Who else has a SR leaving for GL this week?

My son is at the hotel right now. We will go see him take his Oath in the morning and spend a bit more time with him before he leaves.

My boyfriends mom just recieved his box two days ago and we live in Oregon. He also left on July 2nd but we still don't have his address yet, his recruiter said hopefully on Monday we will have it!!

Good Morning to all of my ladies (and gents if you're out there!)!!

I hope that this beautiful day finds you all in good spirits.

Last night I got the first really good nights sleep since my SR left...granted it was only 6 hours, but it still felt good to wake up after a restful night.

Coffee on the porch then a quick workout and I'm ready to start the day!

I was thinking this morning about all of the things that I depended on my SR for...like reaching tall things and lifting heavy objects...which leads me to my question of the day:

What are you learning to do (again) that you may have depended on your SR for in the past? Things like programming the DVD/blueray player, figuring out things on the computer and teaching me how to use a smartphone?

Let us know how you're finding your new independence!!

Have a great day, and stay cool!

Work the tv for sure! I'm on bedrest too so lifting anything heavy or even our three year old when she's sad :( he would give me a back and foot rub every night too so I've been trying to coerce my mom to do that lol

Sorry to hear about the bedrest...I hope it's not serious!

And man did you have it good!! I know you're missing that!! Sounds like you have a great hubby!!

It's great here....lot's of support...so stay and keep us posted !

Bless your heart. I hope all goes well with your pregnancy. How is your 3 year old handling him being gone?  I hope your mom is able to help you out as much as you need it.

She's ok...she def misses him but my brothers and my sister r keeping her occupied :)

I'm missing the late night talks that he and I use to have. My husband leaves Very early for work so he goes to bed early. My SR and I would stay up and watch tv, talk, or just veg on our electronics after everyone else went to bed. My SR was also a HUGE help with his little sister. He never complained about watching her or helping out with her in any way. In fact, it has been hard on him knowing that she has some challenges (vision problems, ADHD, and a learning disability) that he is not going to be here to help her with. I know that he will still find a way to help her. In fact, the letter writing is a start already. My SR was always there to offer a younger perspective on ideas that I would have concerning my students...not sure how I"m going to adjust for that.

Your SR sounds like a truly great person. I am sure he will do well! I too miss my late night talks with my SR.

Hi. My son also left on 7/2. That was the hardest thing that I have gone through. I see that some have received the box already. Glad for them. I haven't received mine.

I haven't received mine either yet...just be patient and keep writing the letters in the meantime.

And stay here and keep up the posts...the support out here is amazing...and really makes it easier.

Friend me if you need someone to chat with...I understand!

Thank you for the words of encouragment. It does seem easier to readthe posts and not just feel sorry for myself. I am just new to the whole military roll as I'm sure others are as well.

I'm hoping that we will start to receive them tomorrow. I have mixed feelings about getting the box...it is another reminder that our SRs are truly gone, but at the same time it is another hurdle conquered for us and another step closer to PIR and seeing our Sailors.
