Who else has a SR leaving for GL this week?

My son is at the hotel right now. We will go see him take his Oath in the morning and spend a bit more time with him before he leaves.

not us but sorta close to that.. ship 9 div 274 he arrived there around 845ish-pm and called me i think at 1030

Hi CookieGVB,

I didn't get my box, or my letter but I did get the address from her recruiter today. She is with Ship 12/Division 269 as well. For some reason I thought girls would be in a different division than boys. I hope their group does well so they get to call us soon. Her rating is OS, what is your SRs rating?

All the best to you and your SR. I'm here if you ever want to chat!

Nice to meet you, Leora & Wendy!  I know I read about co-ed or mixed or whatever term it is they use - divisions.  My son is Undes - so they don't put them all together by rate at all. The box is in my room - haven't opened it yet, but should only be his cell phone/charger.  He was going to donate everything else (ha - he didn't want to have to pay too much to ship everything back!).  We're from NJ - where are you?  Look forward to getting to know everyone in this PIR group better.

CookieGVB,

I am in Florida, not far from Orlando. I did live in Hackettstown, NJ many years ago. We moved to Florida in 1982. I don't know if I would be able to wait before opening the box. I would be hoping for a note or a sign that my SR is ok! There's no way my daughter would donate her clothes as she wore her favorite jeans! Sounds like your son is the smart one! Looking forward to getting to know everyone that is in the same boat as me (pun intended...haha)

Leora - you're near one of my most favorite places - Disney World!  My older son actually wants to go work there in management.

Opened the box late last night.  Like I thought - his cell phone, but a whole bunch of documents, too - included were two tiny pics taken on different days at MEPS - the first when he signed up, and the 2nd when he shipped out.  Also had his travel orders (along with the names of the people he travelled with, since he was supposed to be "in charge" of 6 people from the area.  No charger - he either left it at the hotel by mistake, or it fell out of the box - it wasn't properly sealed on the bottom, and I'm surprised the phone made it home, actually.  Oh well - we can get another charger.

What do you mean rating? How do I find out? I did get box and I also got PIR yesterday.

My son is also Ship 12 Div 269. So good to know someone who has a loved one  in the same division. I dont know why but it makes me feel better. Have you recieved any letters?

I found this and thought they might be fun to send when the letter writing is off a day.

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir82010/forum/topics/recruit-ques...

I have copied each of these and another one into a word document. If someone wants me to send it to you let me know and I will send it as an attachment or even post it here.

K

I would like it if you could send it to me please.

I have gone through my son's box and then repacked it...pretty much like he did :). My hubby went through it as well and now it is sitting at the top of our steps. I'll take his clothes out and wash them with his other ones tomorrow.

I mailed off 8 envelopes tonight. It is nice to know that he will have some kind of contact from home. I'm glad I don't have the feeling of emptiness and apprehension like I did this time last week. I still miss my son like crazy, but tonight's feelings are much different than last week.

Night all.

We should have the 08/31/2012 PIR group up within the day! I will post the link here as well as on the main BC Moms Group wall. Also, on the "DEP Leavin' ...June; July" Groups.
TY for your patience!

Good morning all!

I'm hoping that today is the day...something, anything...Please???

I did talk to his recruiter last night, but he's new to the job and really didn't know what he was looking at (or that you could even find that info!) so I can't really say that I'm sure of his post yet. He told me Ship 9, div. 276, but I haven't seen anyone else say that their SR was assigned to that...I hope that he's not sitting in the barracks all by himself...:) kidding...know that they wouldn't need a whole team of RDC's just for my one stubborn yet brilliant kid!!LOL...that's a whole lot of push ups!!

At any rate...still just keeping busy here...glad to see the new folks who've joined us...and PLEASE...when you do get your division and ship assignments, don't abandon us on this thread...we'll all be in the same boat (yep, there's that pun again!) and will still need all the love and support we can get!

Have a great day all!!!
Peace and blessings!
L.
