What is involved for the families when a ship comes home? And how to get specific info from Navy

Hi Navy moms,

My son will be back from his 1st deployment in November.  I am trying to get information on what the families do.  I watched a U-Tube video of the George W Bush coming in.  I live on the West coast and it is coming on the East coast, so it is a big trip.  I just want to know if I will be able to see much of him during the homecoming.

Seems that my ex gets the info from the Navy and I do not, though I have a great relationship with my son.  So also trying to figure out how to get important info.

Thanks!

Cathy

You are entitled to any information that your ex gets unless your son doesn't want you to have it. Ask your son to tell his father to pass along anything he receives to you - no exceptions.  Your sailor needs to tell his father that he does not need to to deal with communications between you and his father before deployment, during deployment and after deployment (for home coming). Your sailor could ask if his ombudsman to add your contact info to their data base and ask if she/he could send duplicate info out (I doubt it though).

Generally information for home coming is keep quiet. You might get info from the members of the CVN George Bush.

Good luck.

Thank you for responding.  I will try your advice.  How would I contact CVN George Bush?

You are in the group ALREADY!  Click GROUPS on the menu bar above, then click "My Groups" (it's in small print near the top). A page will open up with icons of the groups you belong to. Just click on the right icon.

Alternatively (I do this everyday) you can click MY PAGE, taking you to your personal page, then under your profile photo (which is blank at the moment), you can click on GROUPS and the same group page will pop up.  If you do this, you'll see if anyone has left a message on your comment wall.
