For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Events
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

When ships come back to port
Hi All! I'm a proud mom of a Sailor! I have a question.....when the ship arrives back to port can anyone be waiting on the pier or is there some type of list of names one must be on??

My husband and I came to deployment homecoming earlier this year! I can tell you , it's incredibly exciting to see everyone anxiously waiting to see their Sailors and Marines! It's such a great feeling!Hugs, kisses and Mom's home cooking!

Is it every time that a ship returns that they do all the fancy stuff for the sailors and family or is it only when they are technically "deployed" into areas of threat??? My sailors ship has been taking the ship out and working out system tests, etc. so I was not sure than if they are out for these types of work if they are greeted by family and everything or is it just when they have been "deployed" for work and they return home. I hope this makes sense.

Underways are short jaunts out for exercises and training. Deployment is generally 6-9 months for boomers and other ships like destroyers and carriers. I think fast attacks deploy for not as long. The big homecomings are for full fledged deployment homecomings. Makes sense when we have not seen loved ones for up to 9 months.

Thanks for the response TwinSailorsMom. That is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure. He has had one deployment and no one was there at the pier for him. Now his ship is testing and running exercises and comes and goes every month or so. His next deployment is early next year sometime. I just saw posted that his new home port is going to be Japan. So I don't know how or when we will be able to greet him home again.

I am crying with excitement! My son left yesterday for VA for the first time. I can't wait til we get to greet his ship the first time back. It sounds like so much fun! Any info along the way is appreciated.
