My daughter is leaving Nov 8th...too...

My daughter is also leaving Nov 8th.  Holly0171 Looks like our daughters could be bunk mates

Omg...just a little vent here....My daughters old recruiter does not seem to know what he was doing..does your daughter have her contract in hand? Does she all ready know where her home port will be? Mine doesnt...I am getting so frustrated with the navy right now...I am sure the new recruiter will take care of everything but in the mean time, Im pulling my hair out! LOL...

Anyways...nice to meet you! Where are you from? I live in Pensacola area...about two hours away actually. What is your daughter going in as?

Nice to meet you too! Im in Phoenix so all the way across the country but our girls will probably be BFF's in no time. Dont settle for a bad recruiter! We have a great one. My daughter has a contract right now for the advanced computer field but qualified for the nuke program so is signing her new contract tomorrow. The only thing they were waiting on is if the Nov 8th date was open. dont get discouraged and dont settle for a bad recruiter especially if her asvab scores and her performance in dep has been great. My son goes in in december had great asvab scores in fact scored better than his sister and is a great depper but he showed up color blind so had to go unassigned as well. His recruiter is great and has been trying hard to find something for him. I tell you the color blindness has been very frustrating as it really limits him so we will see.
She is going to another town to see a new one tomorrow...Right away we all could see some problems but hopefully everything will be on its way to getting fixed. I know its her future at stake, I however, wish I still could step in and take over to fix things, but I just have to let her go and do it on her own...LOL>....wich in my mind takes much longer than if i were to take care of it. So we will see where she gets tomorrow. I knew there was more to it than what we were getting. Sooooo...closing that chapter and onto the next. It would be wierd if the girls did become friends..and I hate to hear your son is color blind. They sound like they are super smart. Hope all goes well for everyone.
I understand completely what you are saying about wanting to fix everything, I feel the same way because they will always be our children. I wish I could  fix my sons color blindness so everything will be great for him, but it is what it is. Anyway let me know how everything turns out with your daughter I hope everything goes better this time around.

Well...she decided she had better things to do.. :( So I am taking her on Friday. I think the recruiter scared her a bit. Sadly I dont think she was expecting the brash attitude from the new recruiter. Old one acted like a friend instead of a recruiter. Dont get me wrong a very nice guy... and unfortuently, thats how my daughter thought it was going to be. I am looking forward to the meeting on Friday. I hope we come away with the info we need. As well as, my daughter will see what the Navy is going to be. Dont get me wrong she is standing by her choice to join and knows its the right thing but I think she was misled a bit, and fell for it. So again we will see. LOL. I had to luagh when you said it is what it is....I say that all the time. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the encouragement

Ok..so my daughter made the hour and half drive to see the recruiter that will be starting Sept 1st..in our town. He gave her what I felt was better information. As well as, put her in charge of the other recruits..for meetings and pt and such. (Which I think is great, for the fact that she will get some hands on trainng before she leaves) (How I think it should be.)

She feels more comfortable with her situation. She now understands the six month wait, and that she will probably be chipping paint, lol...But she has two programs she

is looking to get into. We shall see if any of them come to pass, or if she decides to choose a another rate in another direction. However, sadly, she probably wont be making it home for that one last visit before her duty station(boat) and we wont be able to make it up there to see her graduate due to the touph economy. So once she leaves, thats pretty much gonna be it for awhile... :( Its hard letting go! So now, I am going to "try" to sit back and see where this leadership thing takes her while she is waiting to leave. I hope to see a change for the better. ( I know she can do it, her recruiter thinks she can do it, we are just waiting to see if she thinks she can do it.)

All of this sounds a lot better for her a least she sounds like now she knows what she is getting into. I like that the recruiter gave her some info she can use which is his job. I bet you see a big change in her soon as she gets ready for this big change in her life.My daughter is already acting more confindent.  My son is in the same boat (no pun intended) he will be qualified no job and then have to strike for anythin g he can get. It will be much more open for your daughter but they will both have to be very pro active to get an A school once they are out of boot. My husband and I are also having an issue with getting to great lakes for graduation as we has 2 deppers so I,m not sure we can afford to go both times, so he might go to one and I might go to the other but dont know yet. We will just have to love then tons until they leave.
She has another apt on Thursday. So we shall see how that goes. She wants to try out for the navy dive team. If she makes it she would have that as her rate. However, I know she only has a 50/50 chance of making it onto the team. But, I am not going to discourage her from trying. She also wants journalism. Her recruiter said she could test for it. However, I thought that you could only strike for something that is actually opened. I dont think journalism comes open that much. Yet again, I am letting her hatch her own plans so to speak. She does know the first six months are pretty much going to suck. But I am hoping she can find the fun in it and enjoy life in the navy from the get go.
I am in Arizona up by Sedona...my son leaves Nov 1st for BC.  You have two children currently in bootcamp?
Hi Mome2jord, this is really funny but my son has the same name as yours. We are in az but the burbs of phoenix(east valley). Sound like your son leaves 1st, before both of mine,so you will have to let me know how it goes. My daughter leaves nov 8th and my son leaves around dec 13 or 14th. No boot camp yet just in dep but will be in boot together for a while.
