While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Well I got a phone call today and let me tell you I was not mentally prepared for it.She called me to tell me they are sending her home.See for about 3 years we battled stomach issues she was dianosed with gastroperesis and acid reflux but after almost 3 yrs of meds and after having her gallbladder removed she got better.She hadnt taken any of her meds. well she called me today from ship 5 which is the medical ship.Shes been in isolation since wed morning after she got there.she was throwing up and couldnt keep anything down.they ran some blood work did xrays and the dr said her stomach was completely full which means the gastropersis has flared back up becuz of the stress.So after days of isolation she finally got to call me and let me know what was going on.they have her in a completley relaxed inviroment and she has not been sick the last 2 days.She kept saying im sorry momma please dont be upset with me.I kept telling her its ok sweetheart you did nothing wrong you tried you gave it your all.And after all the worrying ive done since she left and i got that 20 sec phone call when she arrived now i hear from her and now im more worried cause i know my daughter is a thousand miles away and sick and im not there to take care of her.Shes waiting on legal to give her the release papers for medical so she can come home and get better.and they will give her the date of how long she has to wait before she can come back.Oh and i also got her box today and guess what her phone was in there which means her recruiter lied to her and us.he assured me monday b4 we went to meps that its something new they started.and then again on tuesday after we got back from the air port he wanted to make sure she got off ok and he told us cuz we ask him about the phone again that yes its something new they started becuz xmas is there day off so she would have it.well im not sure where our journey is gonna go with the Navy

BYW.. I suffer from over stress, with the care of a doctor found it was candida (a yeast infection) but went all through my body -- too many antibiotics killing all the good cells also

Actually, they need to isolate them and get them on track as fast as possible, or they will never break their civilian habits and train them to be military members who can act as a unit on orders, without questioning everything. It is complete immersion in the military life, it is done on purpose because it works. You can't compare it to the Air Force, as sailors have a completely different military experience.
I am sorry her journey is over, but if her body can't handle the simple stress of boot camp and homesickness, then she should never set foot on a ship. Too dangerous to her and to others who would depend on her. Let her know that she isn't a failure, she just isn't going to be a sailor. Help her find good alternatives, perhaps school, or volunteering.
I've been through boot camp, so I do understand.

In bootcamp they are not allowed to keep their phone! Also they won't get phone calls on any holiday...there are too many recruits to get a phone call.
It sounds like the journey is over. Recommend you search for Ship 5 (formely ship 17) group...as your daughter will be going home, most likley after the holidays.
NO one at RTC will be able to give you any info unless your daughter signs the HIPPA and legal paper work so they can talk to you about what is wrong with her.
Lots of people want to join the miltiary but they all don't qualify to join. Better to find out in bootcamp that she can't handle the stress than have her get underway on a ship and this happen.
Guess about 14 days or soo (odds are longer due to the hoilidays) until she comes home. Also no you can't go see her over the holidays as she is still in bootcamp.

they told her that they will be shipping them all home b4 the holidays so that they get there xmas vacations.theres about 30 girls there to ship out b4 next wed.

Belive it when you see it, they can and have had recruits in ship 5 over the hoilidays.

Odds are the put her away from everyone else so as not to get them sick.
So was she on meds before she went to bootcamp?

That was my question. How on earth did she get through MEPS with the medical history she had?

it took 5 months of them reviewing her med records but they let her becuz she hasnt had any problems and has been off all her meds for a while they said she had this is what she sent me ""Alisa Marie

Just I got to stressed because I couldn't adjust to this hell hole.

Better for her to find out she can't handle it in bootcamp than out in the fleet.

yes she was on meds but has been off of them for a yr and a half.the dr there just said the stress is what caused it all to act up again
