pmgcakes and Tina, good to hear your updates. Hope both your sailors do well. I had the privilege of meeting with 5 Michigan moms and a dad today to pack gift bags for the USS Stennis, the N4M holiday project. It's a lot of fun to meet the gals behind the posts here on N4M's. Do take part when you get a chance. Here's a pic of our moms today:

Gail, Here's hoping both our sailors have their fish this time out and enjoy your December visit!

Gail, my son is also out to sea in a submarine. I've enjoyed his calls from Spain, Norway, and Scotland. They run silent for a good chunk of their deployment. He said the lengthy schooling to be a nuke was often discouraging, but now he's enjoying his duties. I hope he's able to complete his quals as he hopes to do before they return.

wow lots of news since I been here last!   Congrats Terry!!  How exciting for Aaron and Sara!  I hope it works out to have both boys home for Christmas Charlotte!   Aaron and I were just talking about  Christmas tonight.   It will be nice to have him actually here instead of sharing Christmas by webcam.    Aaron is doing well in school, he is really enjoying the nuclear engineering class - I  said he better be....lol  My parents are continuing to be amusing.... what can you do but laugh..... my Dad is accusing my mother of having an affair with other guys in the nursing home.... along with members of a band... so he has decided that he has a girlfriend ....... now Mom is refusing to go visit him..... sigh.... good thing is that they will both forget why they are mad at each other in a few days....

Charlotte and Terry, Tina gave a good explanation of qualifying for their fish or Dolphins, which signifies they are a qualified submariner. It is specific to submarines. Scott's deployment will last through this year at least and possibly into January as well. Fast Attacks are out anywhere from 6-9 months and they left in mid July. Their first port call was Spain and Scott got to do some sight seeing. He is enjoying the port calls and seeing other cultures! Usually once the boat gets back they get a month off so we'll be seeing him by early next year at least. Hope the Christmas/New Year plans go great for those who have mentioned them. That is definitely a rarity once they're done with schooling.

Scott is still out to sea, but I heard from him Saturday for the first time in over 2 months. It was great to hear his voice. He says it is still an adventure and he will most likely fully qualify for his Fish on this trip. He sounded great and I sure was a happier Mom thanks to his call.

So I'm not the only mom saving messages on voicemail just so I can hear my son's voice! :-)
