Aw - so sweet Charlotte - thank you..  we weathered the storm very well, no major damage and thankfully no flooding where I live (end of Long Island).    Irene stayed closer to the coast, and hit New York more toward the city and western LI.  we had a few scary days, very high winds, heavy rain and tornado warning.

On another Note - I received my invitation today to Nuke School Graduation, surprised myself by crying like a baby  LOL.  S is doing really well, he has had 4 tests in the last 10 days and did great on all of them (especially widowmaker), his fiancee left today to visit him for the weekend ~ nice break for both of them

Happy Labor Day!

Glad to hear you are all safe!
Charlotte, like your boys, I'm sure many could not posibly know if they were safer staying or going. What a scary time for folks on the east coast.

Charlotte, I will let you know how he likes the sub when he gets back :-) This is his first real deployment. I just pray for him daily that he will stay busy, do his job well, and not have any ill effects of being cooped up.

Didn't feel the quake in Michigan but I heard that some did.

Comment by pmgcakes on August 23, 2011 at 9:58pm

Hi All - Yes Charlotte,  I did feel the quake today, such a scary feeling, I was home with my daughter and our entire house shook, I am at the east end of Long Island and It was very short,  maybe 15 seconds. sounds silly, but at first I thought it was my vertigo acting up :) - then we realized what was really happening - what stands out the most to me was that I had just gotten home from food shopping and I still had soda and water bottles on the Island and the liquid was rock'in back and forth.  next up Hurrican Irene, I hope she stays off land and heads out to the ocean.
