Charlotte, you are so funny! I don't mind sharing. Scott is on a submarine called the Miami and he is an MM3, nuke sailor. We're from Michigan.
pmgcakes, my son rented a house with other sailors in Middle Grove NY which isn't far from the base. Unfortunately I never made it there to visit. Prototype is difficult and frustrating. They work in a big nuclear plant and assignments consist of checking and writing down stuff which they then have to show to an instructor. Sometimes finding someone to clear your work is difficult. This is a very simple explanation because my son didn't tell me much of anything specific. I do think though that he teamed up with another sailor and they helped each other find the right people to clear their work. Scott thought it was beautiful in NY but he loves cold weather...
I live in NY, altho BS is still 4 hours away, much better than the 15 Hrs to SC. My son has asked that I start looking into housing option for he and 2 others. there not sure what they want apartment -vs- house , I found a beautiful, new construction rental apartment complex, that is very close to the base. typical one yr lease but they said that they would and have worked with the nukes on 6 mo. rentals. prices were pretty impressive (for Ny standards) for 3Brs., 2 Ba units w/ garage and W&D and they offer 3 different floor plans and internet/cable included with rent. - Im stearing them towards apartments instead of a house, Less maintance I think.. any thoughts?
Hi Charlotte - curious about protoype in NY? S will be graduating Nuke school 10/07 - and requested NY. Hoping to learn about the everthing :) anything you can tell me?
Terry - so glad to hear that your Aaron is doing well!
Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Its still pretty rough. found out today that no nursing home in Missoula will take my Dad..... so now looking 200 miles away where my sister lives. She works for a Dr who is the hospice director and she says she will be able to help us.
Congrats to Aaron!
