Casey, you definitely have the inside track as a spouse and this shows the rest of us how hard it is for the sailors and especially those with families. Congratulations to your husband for making such a great effort to excel. Whether or not you get a chance to share these problems with the Commander, be assured that "this too shall pass." Perhaps it would be better if your husband found the proper channel for expressing these deficiencies himself. You both should discuss whether making noise will hurt more than help Ryan's chances to achieve all he hopes to achieve. Good luck to your family. Also you might consider a degree program online which may lead to less frustration. My daughter is doing her Master's online right now through a regular university and it's working out very well. I think things will smooth out once Ryan's training phase is done. Hang in there.

Charlotte,

My son heard where he was to be stationed about a month before he was done with prototype (he just finished Friday). I think if your son prefers sub, that is what he will get. It's easier to get on a sub than off I've heard. He will probably know in February where he will be going.

Hi Charlotte!   Aaron will not graduate from prototype, they pulled his watches and other training stuff - I don't know if you've heard,  - but Aaron was selected for the STA-21 ( enlisted to officer) program!  He was hoping to finish prototype, but with graduation date keeping getting pushed back there is no way he will be there to graduate.   Aaron reports to NSI in Rhode Island for 8 weeks of Officer training mid Feb, then he will have a month leave before reporting to Oregon ( OSU).  He then goes back through power school and prototype on the Officer side.

Scott thought he would only get about 10 days' leave, but then they extended his to a month. It may depend on whether the boat they are hooking up with is in dock or out to sea. Of course the Navy still has its ways of getting them to a boat that is underway!

Terry, Scott was discouraged at one time with getting signatures. At some point, I think he quit stressing and it went better for him. Seems he found another sailor or two to "team" with and they helped each other be in the right place at the right time. If he had a secret beyond that I will find out and post it here :-)

Congrats Lorraine!  Enjoy your visit!  what a nice B-day present!

Terry - Keep us updated on how he is doing - how are his signature gathering coming along?  my Aaron was getting frustrated trying to ge stuff signed off on.

Scott was officially finished at BS on Friday and will be heading home Monday. He reports to Groton the end of February and will be on the Miami. This will be his first long stretch at home in 2 years! And he'll be home for my birthday this month...looking forward to it very much. Good luck to all who are finishing up at BS. It's not an easy time for our sailors.
