There needs to be like buttons here :) So glad that you get a quick visit Gail! Terry - I hope you can post a photo of the Enterprise returning home!
Life has been hectic/sad here. My Dad passed away 9/27/12. I was with him. It was quick and peaceful. He was so ready. He came down with an infection about 1.5 weeks before he died. He had said in the past that even if it was a simple infection don't treat him, just let him go. So we honored his wishes. It was hard to do but the best thing for him. I went over to Bozeman when the day after we made the decision not to treat. That first night was really good. Dad got out of bed and sat with me for a bit. the next day I made his favorite soup and He told me it was the best batch yet :) that was the last that he ate besides milkshakes.
He wanted to have his ashes scattered in the ocean, and my Sis wants a warm beach so we are going to head to FL next month. We have chartered a sailboat on Veterans day and will have a little celebration of his life. Unfortuantly with my husband still out of work my family cant go with, Aaron is actually paying for me to go! so we will have our own celebration when Aaron is home in the spring - I think we will plant a tree.
Ooops, forgot to respond to Terry. Seeing the Enterprise return and seeing your son again will be a wonderful experience. Hope you get a picture to post! Have a safe trip.
Enjoy the visit, Gail. That's great that Eric and Lauren are coming to see you. I had hoped to get to New England this month to see the pretty fall colors and visit Scott, but doesn't look like I will this year. But with the Miami in dry dock for awhile, I should get another chance. Scott also has a serious girlfriend and she is here in Michigan, so I enjoy time with her and her 3 year old son (a cutie pie). Scott was home in August so it will probably be another year before he's home. Take care everyone, and let's hope for some warm fall weather yet.
I could never make it, Carol Eileen! I'm doing good just walking on level ground for a few hours at a time, can't handle the inclines well yet. I used to pick huckleberries as a kid..good memories, just like you and your son.
Thanks Terry! Yes it was a fun day! about 8 miles round trip, when we got to the end of the trail and I saw the rock peak we had to climb I said we are going to climb that!?! Aaron said Yup! lol it is about 400 feet of rocks to climb up. it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be...I was worried how I would get down, but it was easier than going up! We found huckleberrys so spent about an hour picking berries on the way down.
hi everyone! It has been awhile since I've been on here! I've been staying busy trying to get into shape and haven't been on the computer as much. I've been doing a lot of walking and recently started a run/walk 5 k training program! I hate to excercise..... but it was time to do something! I started in March and have lost 20 pds so far! my first goal was to lose 20 lbs by my 30 yr class reunion.... I really didnt think I'd make it but I did! and the reunion was more fun than I expected.... next goal is coming up - Aaron will be home this weekend and we are going to climb a local mountain peak....I've been walking on flat ground so this could be interesting :)
Yes Aaron has been in school this summer, he is taking a pretty heavy load this semester, 18 credits. He is having finals this week and will be home for a few days this Friday. He is still enjoying school - playing lots of soccer- on 2 or 3 teams, and it looks like he will be coaching a U14 boys team this fall. he is staying pretty busy!
Terry - What a Cutie!!! I'd love to give her a big hug! Sounds like everyone is doing well - glad to hear from each of you!
