Hi all, I am not very artsy craftsy, and I was wondering if any of you are making a memory box or scrapbooking project for your SR's momentos. I have a bunch of pictures from Nick's going away party,…Continue

good afternoon everyone, hope you are all having a great weekend. April is going by pretty fast, I had 10 days off from work and took two mini vacations, so that has kept my mind busy. Since my son left I have only received his form letter and we got two letters on march 31st. He also called that day but i missed the call. I read and reread his letters over and over and they just make me so happy and proud. He sent a letter to his best friend and one to my friends husband who is military. He sounds great in his letters and I am confident he is going to make it!  My nephew was sent home on a medical discharge about 2 to 3 weeks into bootcamp, so I have been so nervous that Nick might come home too.

I haven't booked my flights yet, so I guess I better get on that. I am so excited for PIR and was wondering if anyone ordered the division tshirts?

OMG mom, hope you find some people from your division soon. It is a great way to find out whats going on.

Hope you all get letters and calls this upcoming week and enjoy the rest of your weekend, angela

CMom;3/150 I can't wait to hear everything that went on at PIR!  I think we'll be at the half way point when your SAILOR(!) graduates. Hopefully I will have gotten one letter and a phone call by then.  I am doing great and believe I will keep doing so; as long as my SR doesn't break down when he calls.  If that happens, all bets are off!  My doing good has more to do I think with his strength than mine.  As long as he is strong and persevering it's easier for me back home.  I can't believe that my son who only knew how to take out garbage when he left will be learning to iron and fold clothes and make a bed!!!!  That is going to be AMAZING!!!!!  Just can't wait for it all to happen.

MaggiJoan I feel that I will be in the same boat as you.  Although I have been sending letters daily (the only one in his family I believe!) I am not expecting much in return.  He promised he would call ME when he finally got that precious phone call and told me he would stay in touch with his girlfriend by mail.  While I really do hate it for her (I know how badly she wants to hear his voice) I'm hoping that he does call me.  His last words on Facebook were "Sh#% is intense".  Figured it just hit him there that it wasn't going to be your ordinary roller coaster ride!  As I mentioned to CMom, I'm not really upset as long as I feel that he is coping well with the changes.  If he calls and that's NOT the case then yes, I will start getting upset.  Until then I'm staying positive (although I can't personally imagine him just standing there while someone is in his face screaming!  I'd have to see it to believe it!)

CorpsmansGirl08 I'm glad that you finally got your first letter from your boyfriend.  You must have been on pins and needles like the rest of us.  It's kind of funny how we all come from different corners of the US but we are so similar when it comes to our loved ones and boot camp.    We all go through the same emotions, ups and downs, etc.  I will be so happy when May is finished and all of the March Moms (and girlfriends) will be through with boot camp.  It should be a breeze from them out until deployment.  Never have I thought that a cell phone and the mail system would feel like lifelines to me!!!

It's so exciting to hear all of you talk about what I still have to look forward to.  Believe me, you'll all be hearing about my first phone call and my first letter if I get one.  I really meant what I said about PIR; I want to hear ALL of the details!

Hope y'all have a great day.  It's a beautiful day here in southern Mississippi!  Bye!

I got my first letter from my boyfriend yesterday!!! :D he gave us the wrong division in his form letter so he is now in 173 and not 174... lol He said its tough and hes homesick but he's staying strong and that his mom and I are his motivation to get through. Im so proud of him, sooo many emotions and thoughts and changes he's going through and still he sounds like he's okay :D  WOOT WOOT! 41 days til PIR 5-20!!!!

Hey ladies;

I too miss our March group - I am so glad you all are staying in touch here!!

MaggieJoan - I will agree with you - I think BC is as much for us as it is for them!  I am learning a lot about myself - My hubbie and I are now empty nesters and I seem to be having more issues than hubbie is!!  But then again, I'm the mom!!  LOL

Proud Navy Mom; You can count on me to come back and Brag about seeing my SR graduate!!  LOL  I realy want to be there every step of the way for you all that had loved ones leave later than mine!  I know what you are going thru!

Has anyone had the blues after talking to their SR?  I almost think it is worse to have a phone call - its like starting all over again!  I just get used to the idea I won't be hearing his voice and then WHAM - a phone call!!  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't miss it for the world - I'm just saying... I want to talk to him more!!

Don't forget to say your prayers for the government to agree on the budget!!  I am praying it won't effect our SR's in any way but getting a little worried about PIR!?!?!  Just think of what our SR's have missed since they went in ....

Japan, Lybia, Ivory coast, Gov. shut down threat, Trump for pres, Royal wedding plans - all in just a few wks.  Have I been blind or is a lot happening all at once or maybe I now have time to pay attention!  LOL

I was just looking at our March calendar again and realized that all of the moms who had kids leave the first week of March are going to PIR this month!!!!  Wow, I bet you are all so excited!  By now you've all gotten the 2nd phone call and are just waiting for the "I'm a Sailor!" call.  The ones of us who have kids that left at the end of the month still have all of that (and much more!) to look forward to.  My son will have been there two weeks on Monday.  While I do miss him it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  I guess getting his form letter and having him write that he was having "fun with his division" made me feel a whole lot better about him being there.  I would like to ask a small favor.  While I believe all of the moms who post things on N4M, I've been talking to all of you ladies a lot longer.  Please fill us in on your PIR experience when you return!  I've been researching hotels, ways to travel (yes, I'm actually still thinking of driving the almost 1,000 miles to IL), restaurants, etc.  While it will probably be too late for me to change my hotel at least we can learn from your comments some things to do and not do when we go up there.  I'm so looking forward to that day!  I have done very little crying since he's been gone but I believe that PIR will be one big cry fest!!!!  I will be so very proud of him.  I really would love to share in your PIR experiences as well.

Thanks to all of you who helped the ones of us with kids who left at the end of March.  Your support has meant the world to us.  And CMom;3/150 you ROCK!  You are the person who kept all of this going and kept all of us together.  I thank God every day that my recruiter pointed me to this website.  Would never have made it this far without you!  Take care March Moms!!!!!!!

Wow, that must be strange to not know anyone in your group. I'm glad we have this one. I hope everyone's doing well. Our March calendar is almost all filled in with ship/division numbers. It's so hard to believe that not long ago we were all waiting to send off our guys!

I'm so glad you started this group! I was hoping we wouldn't lose track of everyone along the way. What a wild ride this is so far. And to think we're really just beginning. The support, thoughts, and prayers certainly are what get us through.

Yes cmom, thank you so much for this wonderful idea and all of your hard work.  This will be a great way for us all to stay in touch.  I'm getting very anxious to get my daughter's ship/division information, even though she just left Monday, and will let you know on the calendar group as soon as I have it!  Then I can't wait to send off my first letter that is done!  Thank you again!  Angela
