While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Good Morn Ladies....
Funny how small the navy feels sometimes...keep telling my sailor that....I remember my brothers telling me why run into their buddies all the time...one brother is still best buds with his boot camp bunk mate after 25 years...every time my sailors makes a boat, squadron change he hears someone yell his name and it's a classmates or instructors from before....after coming in from a det a few weeks ago, went out in SD and ran into 2 boot-camp buddies while having dinner....

Andrewsmom - I'm in Missouri no where near anything Navy! lol. We knew we couldn't make both trips (even though SD in August was much more appealing than Virginia in the winter) Josh told us not to go to SD since he knew he wouldn't get much time off ship. We may be freezing our behinds off waiting to see the ship but I don't care I can't wait!

Hi All!
BeachBunny, I finally heard back from my son and he said he's part of an FRC, and they assist VAW 113. I'm glad you asked - I learned something new. He's an AT-I and this will be his 2nd deployment. He was on the Peleliu until it was decommissioned in March.
joshmom, are you on East coast? That's great that you'll be able to see the homecoming in Virginia! We went to the Peleliu's homecoming on Christmas eve (2014) and it was great! They had been gone for 6 months. My tears were flowing as I watched several Dads meet their babies for the first time.

Got to watch the ship come in on webcams! That was cool now I'm really looking forward to Virginia to get to see it in person! Yep I'm gonna be there
As for getting some R&R, this is a working port as you're well aware of but since he's gonna be there a few weeks he said he'll probably get a few days on the weekends. I sure hope so!

Oh, I've watched the carriers on the webcam and from the beach...really cool to watch that super big ship being tug boated in, Navy security boats on each side...
joshmom...hope your son has a few R&R days in SD before they head out again??
Kinda cool, 3 of us will have ATs on the same ship!
I haven't heard from my sailor this week but know he's still around base in Mugu by his bank account...:))

Got a phone call from my sailor this morning and he gave me the approximate time the ship will be arriving in port. I'm gonna try to catch a glimpse of it on a webcam....wish me luck!
Andrewsmom - I'm so excited your son will be on the GW too. We'll all have stuff to talk about this fall!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed all our kids will be home for the holidays. Mine is hoping to detach from the GW as soon as they get to Virginia then come home with us on leave till he has to report to school in January.

Thanks for the link to the article on the crew swap! My son is currently at Pt. Mugu. He and a few other AT's will be joining the GW, as well. He's looking forward to visiting the ports. In fact, he's had a couple other AT's asking to take his place. :)
We were very happy he was able to join us for our annual Carlsbad vacation last week! Hoping they keep the projected schedule and make it back for the holidays.
