For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Good to hear from ya BeachBunny! I hope your son enjoyed his visit home....I'm sure you loved having him home. Wow heading back out again so soon...good thing your son likes the sea life!
My son really enjoyed his time in Japan, so much so that he would have gladly stayed. He got to experience a lot of things over there.

My sailor is getting his sea legs back, was home for a couple of weeks, now back at base training the new sailor how to prep for deployment as they'll be heading out again!

Elvis has left the building....no wait....my son has left Japan!!!
The carrier has said "sayonara" to Japan and the journey home...home to the states anyway...has begun. Never thought I'd be excited for deployment to start but after 2 1/2 years in Japan getting my boy back stateside is thrilling!

candirad - I really have no idea how long the ship will be in Virginia but from what I've read and the little info my son has given me it takes around 3 years or so to complete the RCOH (refueling & complex overhaul). This assignment will be more like shore duty than sea duty!

Happy Friday ladies!
Well it's official - my son signed his reenlistment papers today. He also got his orders. After deployment this year he will go to Biloxi for advanced cal tech school and then he's going back to his ship but instead of being in Japan he'll be in Virginia! Yeah I'm excited to be getting him back stateside!! He's happy too, this was one of the orders he applied for. His carrier is coming to Virginia for its RCOH so even though he'll be on the ship again he won't be going out on deployments. He'll only be a days drive away from me and I'll be able to call him!
