OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

thanks Reds!  at first when i "liked" the Bush fb page i though "oh wow how cool is this!" and then i got to thinking about my Sailor's name and face being out there on the internet (he's very conscience about internet safety) i got to thinking well...."not so wow at all".  now i think if i see a Sailor with a paper bag over his head on any of those Bush fb pictures i'll know it's him!!! hehehe  well he's not there on the Bush yet and maybe the Bush fb people will change their minds about posting the names with the faces!!!

pondering a thought here and need y'alls input....on the Bush facebook page the communications person posts random pictures from time to time.  in all the pictures i have seen, this person identifies every one on board...rate/full name and of course their location is the USS Bush.  with all the warnings on this site about OPSEC then when they hit the fleet and it's all posted on facebook? i do enjoy following the Bush on fb and the pictures are AMAZING but............anyone can "like" the Bush and see Sailors and their full names and figure out where the Bush has been and it's home port.........????  is too much made about OPSEC on this site?  or is too little being made concerning OPSEC on facebook?????
