The challenge is to take those deep breaths... and then make sure they don't come back out as a loud scream! tehehehe

I don't think you have to worry toooo much! For one thing when he has to be in class he has to be there.. then there is not much 'homework' per say as their books have to be locked up in the safe in the classroom! Hmmm... now I wonder if that was the first school or an advanced class....

You bet... this rate is one of the tough ones for them to retain. So easily transferable to the civilian world.

Very much... he is continuing to work on his qualifications... the more the better! He has considered cross rating (changing jobs) only because right now the AT rate if very over staffed...

Well... yes and no he will be happy with it... My son is an ATO... means he is on the deck of the aircraft carrier... when the temp hits 140 it is mighty warm!

Good explanation of "O" and "I"... I always remember that "O" is outside on the planes and "I" is inside a lab on the ship! Inside and outside...

Another difference can be where they are assigned... ATO with a squadron (the planes) ATI with a ship that takes planes...

My son laughs at me but I remember them as ATI (works inside in a lab) and ATO (works outside on the plane)...

Hi all, Russ is hoping to be home for Christmas, has duty on Thanksgiving, but I dont think he knows for sure yet. I think its time for me to also send another "goodie box", maybe it will help with studying.

My son also recently started ATI school, he said it is hard, lots of math but he did well on his first test. I believe they learn to work on radar and sonar equipement which will be a good job opportunity if they can just study, practice and study. I wonder if our sailors know each other?
