Cindy - Your son has done quite well for himself.  You & him have a lot to be proud of.  Those back to back deployments had to be rough!  Best of luck to him in his career.  It's so nice to have another cal mom on here.  I haven't known any since Marine-Navy Mom (MNM) left, perhaps you remember her. She was a great help to me.  Hope you don't mind but I'll probably quiz you in the future when I have questions!

Cindy - I think it's awesome your son is an instructor.  Care to share his Navy journey?  I love hearing about the sailors who have been in for a while.  My son has 18 months left on his contract and I'm hoping he reenlists.  He really likes his job in the cal lab and has been talking about reenlisting.  Got my fingers crossed the deployment he's on now goes well and nothing deters him from continuing in the Navy.

Happy Monday ladies and welcome to a new week!

Hi Cindy!  I'm not aware of anyone in this group who has a sailor in Biloxi right now.  My son was there in 2012.  Says he'd like to go back for advanced calibrations.

candirad - it's C school.  How's your son doing these days?

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Is it C-School or Sea School?  My son is still in A School in Pensacola.  Do not know where he is going to next.

What a sweet son you have Rosemary!!!  You two are gonna be just fine.  You'll cry happy tears at times and sad tears at times and in between you'll strut your stuff being a Proud Navy Mom!

That's what I was trying to explain to his older sister last night when she wanted a reason why! I told her there is no "why" in the military, you just do as you are told and make the best of it. I guess we are going have to buck and just deal with it. Thanks for the encouragement joshmom and everyone for understanding as I vent my frustrations. By the way, Sam sent me that shirt for Mother's day! I thought it was sweet because he knows I like Navy Mom things now.

Rosemary - sorry your son is not going to get that leave but will keep you in my prayers that you'll be able to make the trip out to see him.  Meeting the "needs of the Navy" really sucks at times and we all have to make sacrifices.  From my experience it is usually us moms that have the hardest time dealing with our kids being away.  The sailors form a strong bond and while on deployment they work really hard and often very long days so they don't have much time to get homesick. I send my son "goodie" boxes and it makes me feel good to do something for him and the other sailors (they all share) and he appreciates getting stuff from home.  The Navy is the life your son has chosen and he can go far with it if he chooses. You're obviously very proud of your son...love the shirt you're wearing in your pic!  Always be supportive and encouraging, your son will appreciate it.  Look forward to the wonderful experiences he'll be telling you about (they have a lot of fun in ports!) and then hopefully he'll get leave when the ship returns.  Hugs to you and remember you can always come on here to vent or cry.  Navy moms understand!

Candirad - hope you get to make that trip to P'cola.  We got to spend a little mini vacation down there with our sailor and had a blast!

I'm afraid to say when.I joined a group awhile back and gave some detailed info and got blasted for it. The last thing I would want is to put our boys in danger by revealing tmi so I understand for safety reasons we aren't supposed to post all that. Your son may have to go to C school too at his next station. I don't know a lot about it myself. I just have to make a way to see him before he goes. I had a brother that left on a plane in uniform and that was the last time I saw him and got to hug him. It wasn't even wartime. He died in a drowning accident while on leave. You just never know and because of those sad memories I just really need to see him before he's deployed!

Rosemary - I feel bad for you.  I know how hard it is to try and see them.  I could not go to my son's grad from Boot Camp in Great Lakes.  I want to go to Pensacola, but who knows.  My son is still in A-School so I have no idea where C School is.  Hang in there.  When does he deploy?

Comment by Rosemary on June 9, 2014 at 10:49pm

Thank you for your reply joshmom and candirad! I had my meltdown this evening. He will not get leave because of the timing of the end of C school and when his ship leaves. It's hard because we haven't seen him since January and he was so looking forward to come home. I told him we'd try to come up with the money to come spend a weekend with him but it is costly for 3 or 4 days since we live in Alabama.
