My son is also in A school in San Antonio Tx. going to be a medic.

stylingsherry,

My son graduated on June 3 Ship 09 Division 189. He is in Great Lakes for A School.  I live about an hour away from San Antonio in Fredericksburg.  If your son ever needs anything he is welcome to call.  I don't know if you live close by, but if you don't we'll be glad to help anyway we can.  You can email me at Alabamalv@aol and I will give you my contact information.

Your so sweet~ thankyou for kind gesture~

Caseysmom, My son graduated on 6/3 as well Ship 09/Division 189. He stayed in Great Lakes for A School, but we live in Fredericksburg, TX which is about an hour from San Antonio.  If your son ever needs anything we would be glad to help.  I just replied to stylingsherry and told her the same thing. If you email me at Alabamalv@aol.com I will give you my contact information..  I grew up around an Army Base and my husband was in the Army.  My parents always opened their home to soldiers who didn't have family close by and I'd like to be able to do that also in hopes that someone might do the same for my son.  We make a trip to San Antonio at lease 1time a month if not more. Maybe he'd like to get off base and go to dinner sometime.  We'd be happy to take him. Just let me know.

My SR will  be attending A school in San Antonio, is there anything specfic I can do or send to help make A school sucessful? Anyone know  about housing? Thanks

My son will graduate boot camp 08/26/11 and will be going to San Antonio, TX.

Do you know how soon they leave and what they can take with them, (cell phone) etc?

My son is currently in TX at Corpsman A school and loves it there!  Yes, your sailor may bring cell phone, laptop, watch.  My sailor has enjoyed going to Riverwalk, Alamo, etc  He will grad on 9/6 and we're still not aware of his assignment!!

You will be able to bring him cell phn, ipod, laptop, debit cards, etc to the airport right before he leaves for A School. He can not bring those items to the base. Once at the airport they are not allowed to carry backpacks or anything that have straps so a handbag will be appropriate. More likely they leave base at 1am and flight through Air Tran @ Midway Airport. My son graduated last Friday and we met him at Midway Airport. Food places are open so after they check in you all can have breakfast together. They will provide family members passes in order to walk you Sailor down to the gate. No ID was needed for our 12 yr old daughter. She was given a pass though. Let me know if you have any other questions. :) Congratulations!
Ok thanks so much.  So do they all fly out of Midway?  I guess I need to buy a bag that he can carry on the plane with his belongings, it that right?  My son will graduate 08/26.  Will he know what time the plane leaves when we pick him up for liberty?
Hi Gielle, do you know if our sailors get to come home for Thanksgiving and xmas? I know they earn liberty in each phase of A school, just hoping they let all sailors go home for holidays? Having the hardest time finding this out. My sailor hasn't a clue, he just arrived Sat in San Antonio to be a Corpsman! YAY! 10/264

Forgot to say he is going to be a Corpsman
