Been doing quite a bit of calling around to hotels in the local area of the Naval Base - here is what I came up with.  Good luck!

Candlewood Inn – do NOT have any rooms with 2 queen beds. They have a one bedroom w/grad rate for $94.99 and that is one queen bed with a sofa sleeper in the main room for $94.99 / also a queen studio with only one bed for $74.99.  One of the moms has a AAA card and when she gave them the number, she was given rates of $70.99 and $88.99.

Holiday Inn Express – indoor pool, free hot breakfast, ¼ mile from Candlewood, 2 queens with free Wi-Fi, Thursday $86.00, Friday & Saturday $95.00, 24 hour courtesy hold, over size room.  Also has a 1 bdrm suite with a king bed in the bedroom and a queen bed and a sofa sleeper in the main room - those prices are $116 and $124 for Thurs and then Fri/Sat.

Residence Inn -  $94.00 for 1 bedroom with sleeper sofa (that is with $5.00 discount for Navy), free Wi-Fi, free full hot breakfast

Motel 6 - $55.99 + tax, free Wi-Fi, free shuttle to graduation, no breakfast but does serve coffee

Comfort Inn - 2 double beds, microwave, fridge, continental breakfast with waffles, $69.00 + tax - $77.28, free shuttle leaves three different times to the graduation and comes back starting from 10:45 until 12:00 and includes the Navy Grad's transportation as well.

Also learned there is the Navy Lodge right on base and you can get 2 queen beds and a kitchen for $65.00 - haven't called there personally but it can be checked out by googling it.

Hotels to stay away from (recommended against by local area police officer) -

Great Lakes Motel - 1 miles from the base at the corner of 41 & 137, told that it is a dump!

Econo-Lodge - great prices but there has been a murder recently at one of them

Please feel free to add to this list as you learn about other places.

Penny - This information is GREAT! Thanks for gathering it. I have made booked my room at the Residence Inn (My Husband Loves the Residence Inn - LOL!).
You're welcome, Dana. We will be staying real close by at the Holiday Inn Express. I hope you will also be attending the meet & greet at the Ramada on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm. A few of us are working all the details out right now and will post on the Meet and Greet site when all compiled.

Thank you for this information.  I was having a hard time trying to figure out what hotel to stay in!  Are any of you planning on taking the shuttle to grad?  Will you still need the same forms of I.D. as if you were driving in ?

You need ID reguardless of transportation type. State ID/Lisence. For kids 12 and under, (may not need, good idea to have anyways) state ID, or birth certificate. 12 and up needs an ID of some sort - picture ID.

Children 12 and under must have a copy of their birth certificate or Social Security card.

ACT, I won't be taking the shuttle, personally, as we will have a rental car.  But in order to get on base you will be require some form of government ID, I do believe.

You can call the Navy Lodge at 1-800-628-9466.   I finally decided to make my reservation here because of it being the closest to the base of all the other hotels.  The rooms are $65.00 a night and that includes 2 queen beds.  The rooms have microwave and refrigerator or you can request a kitchenette at no extra charge.

I did a lot of checking around on ratings of the hotel, because cleanliness does concern me ,and these would be my recommendation from all of the hotels that I checked out.  I had these on my list to choose from, but finally decided on Navy Inn just because of the location.  These others have good location though too.

Candlewood Suites

Quality Inn

Holiday Inn Express

Springhill Suites- Marriot

Residence Inn by Marriot

Both of the Marriots had the best ratings of these hotels that I found.  The rooms are a little pricier if money is going to be an issue for you.  Just some information to share that might help you all.

Red Carpet Inn is very nice, I stayed there.

Thanks for sharing this valuable info with us.
