Oh girl, this is beyond scary and exciting. Never cried for so many days in a row before in so many public places! Bound to get better. My son just took off on 11/24 and gave me a call of arrival at GL at 01:40 on Thanksgiving Day.
I think we'll feel better as soon as we hear their voice! I know they aren't getting our letters yet, so can't wait until that time! I'm sure the kis could use a serious moral boost by now (and so could us moms)!!

What is your son's A school/Job after BC? My daughter left the 23rd and will go to Pensicola, Fl.
for ABE school after PIR

Hang in there! :) This WILL get better!
Penny, my son called at the same time! Funny how it makes you smile to know a stranger had the same experience. I know it was one of the happiest and saddest moments of my life! Best of luck to you and your boy.
My first son left for boot camp 10-25-2010 and my 2nd son left 11-22-2010 this has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I don't think I have ever cried so much in my life. It's getting a lil easier since it's getting so close to PIR for my youngest son. But I know its going to be hard at Christmas w/ my other son at bootcamp. Their little sister has been very sad since they left. She cries alot too. We are VERY proud of them but miss them so much!!!!
Hang in there, luv. What helps me is knowing how much my son wanted to move forward with his life & career, how brave he is for doing this, and knowing he'll get 5 years of freedom (with supervision, food, clothing, and a home)! I can't ask for more than that. He waited 11 months in the DEP program for this. And he did leave me a mountain of laundry, so I do feel like he's still here! His little brothers don't miss him yet (sibling rivalry), but they do want to know if they can divide up the stuff he left behind...
My daughter left on the 23rd. It was really strange getting the letter today. Her writing is so different (and very neat!) I can't wait to see the other changes in store for her. My daughter will be attending A school in Great Lakes after PIR. She will be a GSM (Gas Turbine Mechanic). I'm still waiting for the box with her clothes and phone. I think that will really seal the reality!
Fawn my son will be a GSM also. Is your daughter on ship 11 div 054. My son did leave on the 22nd though, I received his box and then his form letter today. I was so happy to receive the form letter just to hear some words from him. I am getting excited since I know when he will PIR, it doesn't seem that far away anymore. My son's writing was really neat as well, I almost didn't recognize it. He printed but the signature is the same. Nevertheless, it was good to hear something.
My daughter is Ship 11/Div 053. But who knows, they may end up working together. Will your son be going to A school in Great Lakes? My daughter is supposed to go there.

Fawn in the phone call with my son he told me that his division and your daughter's division work together. My son will be staying in GL for A school. My son told me that he will have to move out and into his A school dorm and then he will be able to spend the entire weekend with us after PIR. Since your daughter is also staying hopefully she will be able to do the same.

That would be awesome! Although we have to share our time with her bio-mom, so I'm not sure how it's all going to work. I was up last night writing her another letter. I couldn't sleep, I just kept having dreams about her, and thought I should calm my nerves by writing! I missed her call, so I'm hoping they get an earned call for Christmas!

I am sorry you missed her call, hopefully they will get to call home for Christmas. I find that when I am thinking about my son a lot and I start to cry for no reason that I need to write him a letter also. Somehow writing is like therapy and I feel better once I have put my thoughts on paper. I just find that it is getting harder not to tell him how much I miss him and that I wish he was home. I find it harder to tell him how I wish he hadn't made this decision and chosen to go to college instead. I restrain though and try to be as supportive as I can be. I keep telling myself that he had to do what he felt was best for him. We will get through this.

The letter was reassuring! She said she feels a little overwhelmed by everything she has to learn, but also made a point to tell us she hadn't cried yet! She said she was lonely and needed stamps (apparently she didn't take the ones her aunt bought her)!
