Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together in the afternoon/evening for table games and fun with our new sailors.

we are staying at the Crossland Studios-Waukegan, arriving Thursday late.  we will hopefully make the last 45mins or so of the M&G, staying until Sunday, rented a car.

We are driving from Ohio - plan on being there Thurs. afternoon and staying until Monday morning.  We're bringing:

me (Chris), my husband Bob,  son # 1 - Matt (25) is flying in from Phoenix Thursday night,  son #2 - Tim (21), daughter -

Megan (12), my mom Helen, and recruit's friend Josh (18).  We are staying at the SpringHill Suites in Waukegan and I am

undecided about whether to take the shuttle or drive but I'm leaning toward the shuttle.

Driving from northwestern Michigan, up & around through Wisconsin in two vehicles...don't ask ;-).

Staying at the Hoiday Inn Express, Waukegan. Arriving Thursday, staying until some time Sunday. Undecided about shuttle.

Got the two vehicles figured out, Deb. Lol. We are staying at the HI Express as well. Hope to see you there.
we are staying at the Ramada Inn arriving Thursday afternoon his parent sister and step son will be leaving sunday afternoon but if he have overnight liberty i will be staying til monday afternoon we are taking a shuttle to PIR
KLP...we are staying at Ramada too.  Arriving Thursday with SR's twin brother (22) and sister (25).  Looking forward to meeting!
Penny and Deb, we are also staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan. We are driving from SC. We plan to leave about 2 am and hope to be there by 8:00 pm Wednesday, Jan. 26. We'll need most of the day Thursday to recover from the drive. We have four drivers and will switch out as needed. I'm praying for good weather...no snow or ice.
Jill, I am so excited to have another nuke at the HI Express. Can't wait to meet you and your sailor.
We will be staying at the Mariott Residence Inn in Waukegan. We will arrive on Thursday. We plan to stay the entire weekend because as far as we  know our Sailor will be able to stay the weekend with us because he is staying in GL.
Ramada Inn - Arriving Chicago early Thurs morning with my 17 yr old daughter and 12 year old son.  renting a car, will take shuttle to PIR if it leaves early enough.. Front desk told me they don't start shuttling until 7am.
