What hotel is everybody staying at?

Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors.  It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

Karen:  With a small PIR group as you have, the car line to get in probably won't be bad.  With the larger PIR groups, it can be quite a wait in the car.

But just to ease the minds of those taking the shuttles, we didn't wait in a line to pick one back up after PIR. There were several there and they were waiting for all of us.  We left the base about an hour after PIR.

Just a point of interest:  The RDCs during BattleStations are not their RDCs but rather "BattleStations" RDCs from what I was told.  And, yes, punkinbaby, you are so right!  The RDCs do NOT want anyone to fail...they have invested too much in these recruits and doing their jobs means making sailors...so there is lots of encouragement.  Some DO fail...but they are allowed to go through again with much encouragement and most all pass then.

We are taking the car.  From what I heard the walk is a little shorter and we are not planning on going back to the hotel after graduation.  This way we are not restricted to leave or wait in line for the shuttle after graduation. I asked my daughter if she wanted to go back to the hotel to relax; she said; no way. we are going out! She also wants to stop in the Navy Federal Credit Union and transfer her funds from her local bank into a new account account. She's the boss; for the day anyway!

Good Morning everyone! So when I talked to J yesterday, he said battlestations was easier than he thought it would be and that it was the most fun he had in bootcamp! He also said he teared up a bit when they gave him his cap afterward, because he felt like he passed the biggest accomplishment of his life! So please do not stress parents! He said the RDC's inside battlestations actually help you because they do not want anyone to fail! So please do not stress yourself out over it!! Your SAILORS will be just fine!

DadinValley:  847 calls can be your SR or Navy admin personnel, but since your son's cell phone was called, it would have had to be your SR.  Strange that your SR didn't try to call you all, but it could have been that there was no more time to dial another number (when the RDCs say time's up...time is up right then!)  I remember how quickly my son would say, "Gotta go, Mom.  Bye." and then he would hang up!   Well, you know you will get that I'm a Sailor call on Monday...so hang on...that will be the most exciting call and it is just 2 days away. HOOYAH!

Jill, Happyy birthday to your son.

We didnt get a call yesterday...but get letters. The wierdest thing....on the 19th my middle son (17 in High School) missed a call from the 847 area coe...the only one that calls from there is our SR?? But we didn't get a call. Since school was on he couldnt take the call.
And since he hadn't set up voice mail (that will be corrected)...no message.

Good morning, everyone today is my son's 21st birthday. I am missing him terribly today. This is the first time we’ve been apart on his birthday. At least today is a fun-day for the recruits, Captain’s Cup, good luck div.910, HooYah. January 28 cannot come soon enough for me.

Congratulations to all the new sailors and their families.  I am still praying for those who still must go through Battle Stations, divisions 55-58 and 910.

Joan praying for your son today as well.

I hope I didn't offend anyone from 054 yesterday.  When my SAILOR called yesterday to say that Battlestations was over, I was shaking with excitement as I was typing (as she was talking to me.)  Sorry.

Since 053 & 054 are brother/sister divisions, there is a friendly rivalry between them.

Everyone from 053 & 054 that went through Battlestations are now SAILORS!  That's all that matters!

[Maybe that is why I should only read the posts and not make any comments] :(

...they let people on base starting at 6:30.  We were seated in PIR Hall by 7 (left our hotel at 6:30).  You are searched/identity verified when you arrive, but we had no wait for that since we were there early.  Got right in and walked straight to the PIR Hall.
