Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Thought it would be great to learn where everybody's sailor is heading to after PIR.  This can be a great way to open new conversations at the M&G and also make new friends that will be going…Continue

Good luck Karen...excellent warning for all our sailors. I have heard nightmares about the different crap that unscrupulous retailers do to our somewhat non-savvy kids. I am sure it will work out...but the hassle is irritating.

Thanks Deb...I could do one of those Visa commercials -

Hotel while stuck in a blizzard - $$$

Rental Car buried under snow  - $$$

Food from mini marts while stranded - $$$

Extra couple of hours with your sailor - priceless

100% on his first test, post on FB with his new phone, escorted sister sailors to the mall, decided to wait until after A school to get his tattoo...priceless. Still get weepy but not sobbing. So glad you got to spend some extra time with your sailor Gvnavydad.

My daughter went to the mall today and stopped at the Verizon Store asking about an upgrade.  Well, she is under our plan and no authorization to change anything; sales rep looked up her information, handed her a business card and then come to find out, he took her number and my upgrade and sold a phone to someone else.  When my daughter calls her number someone answers and says "This is my  number with my new phone"  I am fit to be tied!!!  On the phone with the Verizon Fraud Dept on hold.  i am doing a slow burn!!!!

ActMom - we were really lucky the Master Chief found out we got stuck in Great Lakes because of the storm and gave my boy a couple hours of liberty Thursday to have dinner with us. Unfortunately the roads were so bad that we spent most of the time in traffic...but nobody else got that blessing so we have no room to complain. It was wonderful to see him again and saying goodbye was slightly easier than Sunday. My wife didn't burst into tears until he was a good five feet from the car. :-) Overall, things are great...our son really loves this and though he is far away. I think he made the right choice for his life.

bvnavydad~ so glad that you finally got to make it home.  Did you ever get to spend anymore time with your sailor before you left other than PIR.  My sons first off base liberty was Sat.  I called him at 6:30 that evening, and asked what he had been up to.  He said that him and 2 of his shipmates had been at tattoo parlor since 1300.  I said, gee, can't you find other more exciting things to do with your first free time, you're waisting the whole day!  His 2 shipmates got tattoos that day, he is still tattoo free.  He just can't decide what he wants.  I told him he better make sure he LOVES it, because it's there for the rest of his life. He said, oh yea, don't worry!  You would think that they would have been living it up at the beach!

Karen, I bet she was with my daughter. She went to the mall with friends today and posted their pics on FB. What is your daughters last name?

Spent the day with my Sailor..and yes....there is talk of tattoos.  Atleast they are prepared, the Navy gives suggestions to the cleanest tat parlors in town.  He already has his picked out.  (I'm cringing)  and his passed on Hooters!!
