Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

gvnavydad - what is Lock N Go?
Comment by gvnavydad-ship011div057 on February 4, 2011 at 10:00am
I just got a message that some of the sailors got into Lock n Go yesterday. So, that is good news they must have a path in that sea of snow somewhere...good news for our sailors!

Attn: Lock N Go users, if you talk to your kids...make sure they call before heading over there this weekend. As of this afternoon...it looked totally inaccessable due to all the snow, unless there is someway around back. They may get it cleared up tomorrow, but I recommend your sailors borrow a phone or use a pay phone and call before investing in a taxi to get there.

Deb - My son is an ET and I was able to get him his compuer and phone, so we have had some contact. He is in temporary housing and believes all the ET's and FC's are in the same boat( or ship I guess :-) ). They have primarily been fooling around and having fun this week as he put it. They started school today but it was just movies and briefings. Most will get limited liberty this weekend. Hopefully, things around GL will improve by then...most larger stores and restaurants are back open, but traffic is an absolute mess. Most roads are at limited capacity 4 lanes roads are now 1.75 lanes etcetera, they just have nowhere to move all the snow. He also heard that with weekends, holidays, hold days etcetera their 212 day A school lasts way over a year. When I mentioned it didn't add up to me; he  said he was told there are a lot of hold days right now. I would wait and see on that statement, he could be wrong...he did have outdoor watch in the wee hours Wednesday night. He may have a true brain freeze that no Slurpie can match right now...it was really, really cold.

Hikermom, by the way, our boys were on the same flight.  My son says he really likes it there and feels the happiness finally returning to his soul !!!  They had a mock PFA test today... the real one will be in a few days.  He says he feels he needs to spend more time on his push-ups as the past week without PT has gotten him a little slow but knows that he will still be able to pass.  And he says the food is so good that he already knows he's going to have to put the brakes on right away to keep from having an issue.  lol

Sherry, keep in touch about where your son ends up.  If he ends up in Gunners Mate, let me know and I'll let my son know to give him a break !!!  lol

Sorry hikermom about your son.  I hope he gets some medical attention and is back up and running real soon.

Sandy, you're such a sweetheart trying to take care of all of our boys.  Wish I lived in SC right about now to be closer to my boy.  Sure do miss him but feel so much better about him being in GC than in BC !!
