Hi, everyone!  Another veteran joining your group...son PIRed last Feb.  So along with Jessica, Arwen, Lynne, Lala, and others, I'm here to help with any questions you all may have.

Just to pass on info for those who have not made hotel reservations yet, one of the other PIR groups is trying to get 10 families to stay at Residence Inn for their PIR and they then can qualify for a "group discount."  Residence is a great hotel...we stayed there...roomy for those with extra family members coming.  One- and two-bedroom suites, sofabed, full kitchens.  Quiet area...about 4 miles from RTC.  PIR shuttle from this hotel ($3/pp each way, sailor returns with you). Pet friendly also for those who may drive and want to "surprise" their new sailor with a visit from the family pet!  Some of the other area hotels may offer group discounts also, so be sure to ask.  I believe on the PIR group I referred to, they are within 3 of getting the 10 they need for the group rate already.

the comfort inn came to 69 a night when i called. You have to call to get the rate you just say your going to the military grad =]. If you do it online however the same rate doesnt apply

The Navy Lodge is $65 a night with no taxes and a mile from the base, without taxes it may actually be cheaper than rooms much less. It isn't supposed to be fancy but tied to the Navy and it is supposed to be very clean and safe, most rooms even have a kitchen. https://www.navy-lodge.com/ you have to be an immediate family member and the reservation will be in your sailors name, but a pretty good deal.
