Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Hi everyone, okay ... anybody out there whose emotions are turning from disappointment to anger???  Just asking!!  It's bad enough that my son is going to be there for almost 9 1/2 weeks but to have to wait almost three weeks just to hear how he is doing .... c'mon already!  Not what I signed up for nor was told about.  Sounds like our division was held for two weeks in P-days ... anybody else feeling my frustration?

Kac congratulations on your letter. Ladies just reading back there were some beautiful quotes from cards that were uplifting. Jessica thanks for the advice when we receive that first phone call. Everyday I am rushing home to check the mail and it is just so disappointing not to get a letter yet. I find my emotions are running like a roller coaster the closer we get to Christmas. I sent off my 6th letter last night not including the two cards. I really just need to hear from my child. The waiting and not knowing is tearing me apart. Lynne I know you are right that no news is good news, but I just need to hear something at this point even if it is bad.

No letter again!!

sidenote, from how i read the letter it didn't sound like his division got any mail yet. i wrote a letter a day so i know he's gonna get a pile when they do get mail.

They are issued a 300.00 advance in a NEX card when they get to boot camp to buy toiletries, envelopes, stamps etc., however they often underestimate how much they need and sometimes they don't get there as soon as they need to to get more...so tucking in a few stamps now and then is a great idea...

Comment by Lynne on December 10, 2010 at 5:29pm

Tricia...you are right...human error makes it worse...but their mail is held for at least 2 weeks and up to 3 depending on when they get out of p-days

Kac..  good for you! Happy you got a letter!  No letter for me today from Ship 07 Div 055.  Maybe tomorrow ??  Maybe they didn't get to write last Sunday.. ?

Comment by Kac46047 on December 10, 2010 at 5:12pm

i sent my guy stamps in a letter and i know he had some when he left. i'm pretty sure that if they dont have any they can get it at NEX but i dont know when they would have time to do that. my advice would be to send them in your next letter =]

KAC, I'm very happy for you.  That is so AWESOME!!   Ladies I have a question and please don't laugh, do I need to send my son some stamps? or envelopes?  Because, if I do I better get right on that.  Otherwise, I'll never get mail. :D

I absolutely love the Shopping Therapy idea, that sounds like a plan.  (Thanks Kathy!)

Comment by Kathy Ship 11 Div 057 on December 10, 2010 at 4:40pm

YEAH KAC!!!!! so happy for you....the rest of us will be soon!  Keep your chins up ladies! :-)  Distract yourself w/ some SHOPPING THERAPY lol

Thoughts and prayers with you and your daughter and son in law Lala!  It will all work out.
