Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Thought it would be great to learn where everybody's sailor is heading to after PIR.  This can be a great way to open new conversations at the M&G and also make new friends that will be going…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors.  It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

Hello Everyone
I have my room booked with Candlewood Suites after reading the comments about the different Hotels this one is the best one and it was only 58.88 with taxes included. I check in on Thur and check out on Sun.

No mail today, hopefully tomorrow.

Penny my son was in the high school marching band when he was in 7th and 8th grade. He played the trombone but I don't think he's in the band. The only thing his first letter said was that he was in a performance division and that they were doing a lot of drill work.

love the clock!

Hi Everyone! I have my room booked at the Marriott Residence Inn. My husband has a love affair with this hotel, so once he found out there was one all other hotels weren't even an option - LOL! I think the Christmas cards are a great idea and I'm game. I didn't receive any mail here in Wisconsin today either. Many thanks to Craig for the pictures. It was really good to see where they are staying. I want to start my PIR bag, but must watch the weather out here pretty closely. It can go from 19 to -20 in a blink of an eye.

Hey all,
Since I'm friends with JessicaB and nicole lee, and since they are helping this group along I thought I'd share this photo with you guys since some of you have sailors on the Kearsarge (ship 11).
All the ships are basically designed the same way, each can hold 16 divisions (1360 recruits). Have fun on your roller coaster ride!

In regard to the cards, I would suggest that you write to your recruits asap and find out how many are in the division and if possible get a list of names...some are better at doing this than others...lol...then get the cards ready and send them out. I would suggest the cards be given out on Christmas Eve day. This makes them a special Christmas treat. I also would suggest that one mom per division take responsibility for the cards to the RDC and then private message me because I have a little idea (imagine that) about those cards...lol!!

You can send gift cards...but unless it is to the NEX they dont do much good and my son still had money to spend at the NEX when boot camp was over because they give them a 300.00 advance. So, if you are going to do a gift card, buy it, take a picture of it and send them the picture. Find out where they are going to A-school and make it a virtual Christmas of things they can use for there. For example, the beds are twin x-long. They love T-shirt sheets, perhaps a special pillow case, new boxers (they will really appreciate that, they hate the tighty whitey's), girls wouldn't mind some new undies either I am sure. Be creative...just because you can't physically send them the gift...you can virtually send them a card that says do not open until Christmas with a picture of a gift inside.

no mail here either ladies! :-( soon i hope! I'm in on the Christmas cards for the division. Good question though, how do we know how many to send, and do we send in one large manila envelope to our child and have them pass em out or what?
