Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors. It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

Hey everyone! Sandy, my son will be on USS George Washington once he gets to Japan. He is ABE. But once they get to Japan, I'm not sure what all they will be doing. It's such a mess there. He is still on hold in Pensacola. Graduated from A school and not happy that he is being held at training station, but hey, that's the military, you don't get to pick and choose anymore. He did get his tattoo. It was scary big in pic, but not so bad in person. He has his last name across his back. He will get update on his orders April 16, so still hurrying up and waiting. He bought a new car, even though he already has one, that now he must sell. Chrysler 300. Beautiful pearl white color. I tried to talk him out of it when I was in Florida. Hey, it was my birthday, and I thought that it was a perfect birthday present idea for mom, right? I got a Navy license plate cover for my van instead. LOL! Go figure! I wish that he would have paid better attention in their finance class, because he's not doing too well in that area, and am afraid now that he is going to have so much free time on his hands with nothing to do. I told him to volunteer for something to do while he is down there. Not sure all of that advice is sinking in. Oh, well, it takes some time for them to come around and realise that mom is always right, right? Have a great day everyone!
You have to remember that they weigh them with clothes on and so they don't have any idea how much they weight in the buff - My son weighs in at 223 with boots, full NWU, etc. But then again, he stands at 6'2". lol
Yes, mine is also starting to get antsy for his car as well which means I have to get off my butt and get his car sold here so that will give him the extra monies needed to get something dependable. Good to know your sons (Sandy and Sherry) have wheels now or soon will have wheels; I am sure it is such an ego buster to be tied down and depending on others or a taxi to do much of anything.
Still waiting for A school, huh? WOW, I bet your sailor doesn't have much left in the checking account from pure boredom!!!! lol
WOW, amazing that he came out alive in it. Hopefully was all car body damage and no human body damage. I agree with the 72 Mazda pick-up thing though. Why bother with a vehicle if you're just going out to sea anyway!! We still have John's 94 Honda Civic but now he is wanting to sell it. Told him to sell before he left but NO WAY...now he finally sees the light!!!
