Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Thought it would be great to learn where everybody's sailor is heading to after PIR.  This can be a great way to open new conversations at the M&G and also make new friends that will be going…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors.  It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

I got a request this morning to overnight a ribbon order to the Comfort Inn in Waukegan and to let you know if you didn't order and want to this is. The last chance. The ribbons would be at the front desk for you to pick up and your payment would need to be made today through PayPal. I will do this for you and so far there are 2 orders that will be sent there. Let me know if you still want in on this.

Sandy, just an FYI...  I got my phone call from my son around noon (AZ time) which is 1pm at Great Lakes.  But who knows if that is relevant...  this is the military after all.....  :)    So as always, best to just stay by the phone.  No more bathroom breaks!!

Alisha- thanks for the info about our kiddos in 054 getting to call.  I will have my cell with me all day!!  And I agree, you can TOTALLY hear the joy, pride in their voices and they sound soooo much more RELAXED!

Cindy...just re-read your post!  This was in your paper today?  That's really very fast if she just went thru BS21 on Thursday/Friday!

Dianne, I can't even hardly wait to hear my son's voice AFTER BS21 as I am hoping to finally hear some excitement.  Other than that, the most excitement I heard out of him was when he aced his 2nd test.  Most of the rest of the times, he usually just sounds exhausted and keeps clearing his raspy throat.  He was pretty ticked about his last test ... only got 4.93 and says he knew exactly what question he missed.

Penny, I have always been a very patient and calm individual.  But the Navy thing has really kicked my butt.  I've lost myself in this madness.  I feel like I've been playing hide-n-seek with my son for nine weeks and still cant find him.  Its the craziest feeling.  My hope is once he gets to A school, it will all level off.  Phone, please ring!!!  PS  - uptight is an understatement!  LOL!

Yes Penny...our local paper here even published when my son enlisted.  I'll be waiting for the graduation announcement, but I saw somewhere (can't remember where) that sometimes it takes a month or more before they actually get the info locally.

DadInValley:  A family friend of ours (airman) flew out for the survival training...he said...not fun, but interesting...I believe he trained in CA.

Yes Penny, it was in my local paper! No picture, but headline with her name  and completes Navy basic training really woke me up this morning. LOL

Its still a little early, Sandy...maybe in another hour!  Better have a co-worker cover your office phone if you have to go to the bathroom again!  :-)

Alisha:  I'm not sure about this for everyone, but my son's Ricky Heaven's pizza part was at night...it sure was nice to get that surprise call from him when he was there!  They are so much more relaxed after BattleStations!  You can just hear the joy and pride in their voices.
