Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I am sorry I am tech challenge. Is this the visitor's log?
My fiance has joined the Navy and is going in as a Nuke. I would like to get some information, but I am very computer challenge. Anything would help. Thanks

My son just had PIR yesterday and left today for A School in SC

I'm so happy for this basic information! It is so much more than I got from my son and his recruiter before he left!  It comforts me a great deal just to know what's going to happen if all goes well at boot camp!

I decided I better join this group after noticing that there were questions being asked here that I am not sure I getting answered, due to the fact that traffic or moderation on this site seems to be less. I encourage anyone to also join the Nuke Moms group   http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/nukemoms?commentId=1971797%3AComm...   if you haven't already.  That group is very active and you can post any questions you have in the comments there. I will do my best to respond here as I am able.

My son is currently at GC in A school as an ET. His PIR was Aug 25, 2017 in GL. He went to GC the day after PIR and then was INDOC (basically holding until enough ET's to form another class), I have a couple of discussions on NukeMoms group, one being "A School ... - a sailor's perspective" that shares a break down of their daily routine. - my son is scheduled to graduate A school April 6, 2018. Due to the winter storm in Jan, most of the classes had their graduations rolled back 1 week. But if a sailor has to miss a test day, for medical, legal, or other reasons, they are automatically rolled out (removed) of their class, and rolled into another class, and not necessarily the next in line. So, graduation dates are not set in stone for A school, either.

SuzeMN - You might receive more comments on this if you post something on the Nuke Moms group.  - But to answer what I believe I do know. If they sign a contract, it is binding, unless there were some other stipulations that were made which the recruiters would be the ones to know. Thus, it is not likely they will change the rate (job) unless it is determined otherwise that he doesn't qualify.

That said, I have never heard of anyone specifically signing up as an MMN. The MM stands for Machinist Mate N=Nuclear. And it is my understanding that these rates are not actually assigned to them until they are in BC and then the rating decisions is based partially on their aptitude, and their preference, but it is primarily based on "Needs of the Navy". 

My son had the option to break his DEP contract, but that was with some specific stipulations and he read the contract very carefully, before signing. I assume it would have been upheld if things changed but I don't know for certain, and we didn't have to break the contract either.

It is best to talk to the recruiters, and even see if they can put you in contact with the Nuke regional department. (Not sure what they are called, but my son talked to them some.)
