Hello. My son had PIR today, 1-10-14. He is staying in GL for A school for MR. He says he is on hold. What does that mean?

Hi, my son is a senior in HS, and DEP is July 8, 2014. I know it is a long way away.  He is going to be trained as a MM.  Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this?  What he will kind of be doing-from people who have loved ones out there doing it now.

Hello, My SR is in boot camp and is going to be going to A school in GL for EN.  He is saying that his RDC is saying he will be deployed shortly after A school.  Does anyone know if this is something that is true?  Or heard of this before?

Just got a letter from my son! He said that EN and MM have been combined and now he will be at GL for 14 months instead of nine. I don't mind that since this is as close as he is ever going to be to us (5 hours by car). Does anyone know a link to see the job descriptions? Not sure what a machinist mate does.

Hello Ginnysue, I am sure there is a possibility of that happening. I was looking @ the graduating class in August and there was only 6 sailors. I like the fact that the classes are small.

Nicksmom, I just found this sight last night and was happy to see your post. My son will also be in GL as an engineman. He is graduating from bootcamp two weeks after your son, October 11th. I wonder if they will hold the start of school into October and they would be together? We are from the St. Louis area, about 5 hours from GL.
