Valerie, to answer your question about FA, I just talked to my son who explained the best he could in layman's terms for me. He said that the order goes as such; recruit, apprentice, fireman (anything w/man on the end of it). A recruit is E1, apprentice is E2 and fireman is E3, then it goes to PO's. He says that an SA will transfer over to a FA and so on. In the engineer group they are all called Snipes, named after a Commander Snipe. They usually will get the best of everything because they are the ones that keep the ships running so they are treated very well. My son is a EMFA! I hope this helps answer some of your questions!

Joanna my husband went in as E3 he has his first day of BECC yesterday and they did their dreamsheet. His choices in order of 1-3: Florida, Virginia, California he said they were told they cannot pick overseas if they were married. I hope we get Florida I need some heat in my life lol. Diane someone told me you can sometimes have a good chance of getting your choice if you pick smart for instance picking something close to you so we will see with our luck they will send us to WA lol.Now we are just praying he doesn't get put on hold because of his dental appointments........awwwww the Navy gotta love it lol

FArrah, you are right!!! You have to think what it cost the Navy to move a married Sailor over there...opposed to one that is single! ...
