They "phase up" after they get there. It is a work up privilege thing. After a few weeks they can wear civilian clothers and have a phone and leave base. But it will come a little bit at a time. Good luck on the 12th you'll love it.

Antoinette...as far as NYC...under groups do a search for New york moms....I do know there are MOMs in NY....but you have to narrow it down...join a NY group and then.....see in there about moms "closer" to you....and onward! Good luck♥

YES< he will get leave before his duty station!
heres the take...GL will give a ticket to Hawaii and also he will get oh about 10 days leave or so....What the sailors do is go to the travel office, on base, add a stop to their ticket (HOME) costs like 40 bucks and come home ......

My hubby and I got to spend the weekend with our son, sure is really nice when they get to phase 2 and can do whatever he wants all weekend. We took the train to Chicago and he showed us around. He gets to see his sister in two weeks and then gets to spend Valentines day with his GF, what a life huh? I told him to enjoy it now cuz once he's out in the fleet it will all change!!

Hi mtmmom
My son graduated yesterday from GL as a GSM, he's going to Virgina Bch to be a deck engineer on a LCAC, according to him the best job in the Navy. If I can help in anyway please let me know.
