Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

jensmom, wow, that is quite a wait time - yay for your daughter to have finally classed up after an almost 2 month wait, i think one of the other navy moms in our PIR group has a son in the same class - does she grad on April 25th?
I'm thankful to have found this group and read that, and put all this info together....our son is in Pensacola for IT, he PIR'd Feb 1st as well (ship 13/div 083) and now our older daughter enlisted, and just switched from Undes to AD - AND it moved her ship date up a whole month - to April 29th - we have less than 2 weeks to prepare now, yikes!!! The waiting to class up is no fun to realize, but she is super excited to end up down there with her little brother, though, even if it's only for a little while. We heard IT's are held for 1-2 months after graduating a school, and supposedly he grads on July 2nd, according to someone else in his class - so we'll see how it all works out!!

Yeah! Finally, my AD is starting her A school tomorrow! So excited for her. She's my go-to girl and she'll get it done with flying colors providing her hormones leave her alone for a while. LOL!

My younger brother swore into the DEP program as an AD in Oct 2012 & leaves for RTC on March 26th. I hope this experience will help him mature & find direction...excited for his adventure!!!

Oh, yeah...this is the best site! Don´t remember seeing one like this for the Army when my son was in BC! They probably have one and I didn´t take the time off work to go over it like this one. Thanks for all the support. Now I can support my Sailor a lot easier!

Hi all! Just want to say this is the best site I have ever seen...have a son in the Army as well as my SR daughter in BC on ship 12, div 086. She´ll be graduating tomorrow and then I´ll have a Sailor as well once I get "the call". Could someone please tell me where do I find the page that I had found yesterday (but stupidly forgot to bookmark) "what´s that mean" for all the Navy lingo?

Good advice about the zip locks. In Fl, cardboard boxes invite insects and food gets moldy quick.

I always had fun with sending care packages!
Keep in mind that with Pensacola's nice warm climate, open packages of food can draw unwanted visitors. I tried to send food that was individually packaged, but if that was not possible (e.g., his favorite trail mix comes in a big bag) I sent along ziplock bags.
