They also hit the local mall and do a little shopping! We went there and my daughter got a fresh haircut and bought a couple of outfits. Remember what Kim said about sending too much. But my daughter bought a large duffle bag on base. Her bags were sooooo heavy when she came home on leave. But that didn't stop her.
SoCal, I started sending boxes within 1 week of my son arriving in Pensacola. I've sent him clothes, shoes, beef jerkey, nuts, cookies, body wash, CHRISTMAS PRESENTS, everything. So, you can wait 3 weeks, or you can do it right away. Just remember, they won't be there forever, so don't send tons of stuff she won't be able to leave behind. I'd send 3 outfits MAX.. Maybe some PJs, underwear, etc.
When my daughter is in A School will I be able to send her a small box with a few civilian clothing items? What do you think- maybe 3 weeks in or so?
I believe my son can take his car. If I read right it has something to do with being in the state the car is registered in. But that presents a new problem with how to get it there & back home again. It's in storage now and that might be where it stays.
CruAn- After my daughter got to Pensacola she classed up after her first week. We live in Brevard County and decided to drive up for the weekend before she got too busy and took her clothes and what not. Glad we did. She found out where she would head after C school while there. She liked being in P'cola. But she said it sucked not having transportation. But eventually someone had a car and they were able to get off base here and there.
My son is graduating 2/1/13. Ship 12, Div 086. Don't know codes well, but he is going to Air Traffic School for 5 months according to his petty officer. A few more days. There is so much excitement in the air!! I love it.
Nice to see so much activity on this group!
cbc mom & momof4; Thanks for the help. Surfing the net wasn't very informative. I read 4 weeks basic then 2 weeks specific. Then whatever the navy decides. We're from Fl & P'cola is a 5 hr drive for us. I'm just trying to prepare for the options.
