Thanks!  I spoke with my SR yesterday and he said he will be at A school in Pensacola for only 4 weeks.  I suppose it is possible that could change once he gets there.

Hello, my son will be going to A school here shortly after bootcamp and is an AD.  Does anyone know how long his A school will last for this OS? And is there another school afterward? Thanks for any help.

what is the difference between phase up and class up - seems they can used about the same.  I thought that classing up was related to rate? and phase up is related to the liberty privledges? Am I wrong here?

I see people  saying their sailors have to class up for school, so that has me confused.

Thanks so much. Hope when he gets to A School he will know more about liberty and stuff and wanted him to be there long enough for his siblings to visit since they can not go to PIR

Hey ladies, I am looking for some help!  My son was told when he enlisted that he would go to Pensacola after PIR for about 6 weeks for A school then another 2 weeks of C school still in FL.  SR just wrote that he received his orders and will go to Pensacola for 17 days then on to a new A school.  If he has to wait to class up would that be when he gets to FL ? Is there really school for only 17 days?

Mine can't wait for leave either. He's on a carrier on a long cruise.

How long has he been in Japan? Mine is looking forward to his first cruise, a shake-down one in April. I can't wait for him to get a chance to "see the world.". He thinks he might go on a real deployment this winter. I'm glad to hear your son doesn't hate Japan but there's nothing like COMING HOME. I'm sure he's had a lot of interesting experiences. Good luck with the girlfriend, that relationship will take a lot of commitment.

My son is doing okay, he can't wait to come home.  He is in Japan, he doesn't hate it but he doesn't like it much either - "there's no place like America mom".  He has been working nights for the last 3 weeks, mostly in the commisary (low man on the totem pole).  Just like another mom told me for the first little while they will likely do the grunt work, the stuff no-one else wants to do.  His girlfriend just left for basic training (Army) last week, they are both very realistic about the possibility that the relationship is going to take a lot of work.  Both in the Navy is tough enough but two different branches could be next to impossible.  Time will tell.  We are looking forward to him coming home in June sometime :)   I hope everyone else is doing well.  What's new with you all?

How are things? Anything new?
