Well my son is now safely in pensacola he arrived on saturday 2/1/14. They told him he would probably be there until july/aug. Happy boot camp is through. Love the fact they can call and text. Looking forward to learning more and meeting more moms

My son was in Pensacola in early 2013. They had a lot of quals to do before they could even class-up.  He waited about 5+ weeks before he was assigned. Same wait-time scenario though ... clean, clean, clean.  But, once they started his life was class time then study group. His class was also a mix of sailors and marines so there was that competition too.

The wait times vary quite a bit. When my son was there in 2011, he waited one month. He did barracks support (cleaning) while he waited. I just saw a funny video on barracks support. The guy said "we cleaned for an hour and a half, but there were so many people and so little to clean that we would be finished in thirty minutes, and then we would stand around acting like we were cleaning for the next hour." :)

He also participated in a couple of volunteer opportunities -- cleaning a beach area and helping an elderly widow who was moving.

Hi DaniGirl it took my son two month to get his AD class when he reached A school. While he waited for classes to start they gave them other jobs to do. He also said it was better than bootcamp a little more time for themselves. He said it was fine.
