Hi imomxfour x 2 Sailor
My son arrived at 7:00 p.m. Friday and I was truly excited to see him. We
will spend some time here at home than off to California to see the rest of
the family and friends. Yes he had a great deal of pictures and ones of his
graduating class as well. I fixed his favorite meal for his friends and him
and now he's relaxing and talking with his dad. When does your daughter report to San Diego?=20
nausetmom: it really depends on his job. my husband is attached to a squadron and has only been gone 3 months out of the year on DETS (detachments) they do not go on underways like the ships. sometimes they fly out to the boat and join them on an underway to keep up their quals but thats not very often. their time away is broken up too. they are almost never gone for more than 30 days at time. but that is just how his squadron works they are all different . most of the expeditionary (planes that never go on the boat they are land bound only) usually go out for longer on their DETS but their deployments are only 6 months max vs being on a carrier which are 9+ months. some go on longer DETS also going up to 3 months. There are so many different things that can happen it just depends on his command :) and if he gets stationed over seas or not. if he is single there is a chance that can happen. i really suggest you tell him to go for expeditionary aircraft or helicopters if they let him choose. :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all this. I do so appreciate it
Question to the veteran Moms- how often are they deployed. At BC they told him he will be deployed almost all of his 4 years
Bluewater, that is where my daughter is going - that's their squadron!!! So they are headed to the same exact place, to do the same *job*!! Have you heard from your son today? I hope he got some pictures for you!! Our daughter and her friends took a bunch on graduation day... I added some from her homecoming in my albums, but didn't put the ones from grad since there were close up pics of Sailors & Marines, didn't want to infringe upon anyone's privacy. ;-) Well, I'm off to get ready, my daughter is doing RAP duty this morning and then we're meeting some friends for lunch. We've been running around, seeing people everyday since she got home, and it will continue through the weekend. It's been awesome having her home!
Bluewater, oh wow, it IS the same!! :) What aircraft will he be working on? Our daughter will be working on C-2's (greyhounds) that take mail & supplies & stuff to and from aircraft carriers, etc... She did end up coming home last Friday evening and is here for a few more days, it's been SO awesome having her home! Is your son coming home on leave, too?
