if you daughter gets top of her class, she will get to pick where she is going :) i hope they both get where they would love to go . it makes it so much easier. my husbands A school graduation, I went there, anyway, there were 2 going over here to the west coast. then half of them went to VA and the other half went to Japan. I couldn't believe how many they were sending over to Japan out of the class. we wanted overseas, but we got west coast which i was happy with b/c we are both from over here and our families are really close to us :)

Hi Peggy, our daughter's are similar minded - mine is ok with work, but she wants to know exactly what, when, where, how - so the random assignments and uncertainty part is difficult for her - she said boot camp was a breeze since the were always told what to do and when and how, lol, So she hated barracks support, and always being called down for watch at the last minute - ironically just last week she secured a permanent watch and was so happy to know what her *job* was going to be down there while she waited, just in time to class up, haha!! She said last Friday she was able to fill out her *dream sheet* when she spoke with the Chief of AD (don't quote me on the title of who that is or what he's actually called, lol, I probably got it wrong!! ;-) ) and got briefed on everything at that time.

She already knew monhs ago what she was going to request, from talking with other AD's who graduated with our son in February and are already at their first command. She does NOT want to be on an aircraft carrier, she wants shore duty - so requesting P-3's and west coast is one way to ensure that. ;-)  P-3's are too big to be on a carrier - actually, they're being phased out and P-8's will take their place, but I think it's a similar type of plane.

I'm just learning as she fills me in....and my son is IT, totally different experiences & things to learn about - so I apologize if I get any details wrong, ok! ;-)

My daughter classes up for AD tomorrow - she PIR'd on 6/21, so it was a 7 1/2 week hold. She is relieved to be getting on with it!! Can't wait to find out where her first command is, she put in for P-3's, west coast! Hope she get's it...

AnxiousWife:  After he graduates he will be flying to Pcola and then he will get settled in  he will have INDOC , also the first week or so when he gets there he will be super busy getting his watch quals done. They go through different phases while at a school phase 1,2,and 3 and they also may get foxtrotted. It took my husband a month to class up and then a month for his schooling before he went out to C school. I went down and stayed in Pcola for month until he was given his orders :) if you have any questions fill free to ask away :)

youre welcome KJ'smom.  im sure it wouldn't be hard to find someone to go have some good old home meal with but at least that way if there wasn't anyone he could always just leave. phase three he should have weekends off. unless he has watch :)
