I was so happy to have found this group and then I forget about checking N4M's site.

My son will be graduating this coming Thurs.  I won't be able to attend the ceremony.  Too far & too expensive.  He was anxiously awaiting his duty station.  He finally found out he will be at the Stennis Space Center right down there by Biloxi. His main focus will be oceanography. His barracks will be in Gulfport and he'll have to commute every day.  He said a shuttle picks him up and it's a 45 min. drive over to Slidell.

I also would like to brag a little....he graduated top of his class!  I'm so proud of him.

Let's try and get this group going...I promise I'll not forget to check it often.  :)

I must say it was not welcoming to come home to temps in the 30's after being in the 70's down on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi/Gulfport.  DenverNavyMom- enjoy your time, good to meet you both.

As you can see, this is really not a very active page!  I don't think there are big numbers in the AG community.  My son had over 900 in his boot camp and only 2 were AG's.  I think the numbers have picked up a little since then but the percentage is still pretty small.  He's in C school now and think just 5 or 6 in his class.  I will be curious to see where the new ones end up, keep us posted!

Shesh, nice to meet you! My son just arrived Biloxi yesterday. He starts class on the 17th. I hope to hear more about your Sailors experience in school. Thank you for your information about the length of time he spent in school. Keep us informed of your Sailors journey. It would be fun to hear about.

Hi all !  I'm new to this group and am so happy to have found this on here.  I've looked before but never saw there was an AG group.  My son PIR'd 11/22/13.  He is now down in Biloxi for A school.  He classed up on 12/9/13 and will graduate 3/26/14.  This will give an idea of how long the A school is.

He still has not found out where his duty station will be.  He put in for San Diego but it's where ever the Navy wants to send him.  I hope there is lots of activity on this page as I haven't found any other Moms that have AG's.  I am on the AG FB  page but it is mainly seasoned/retired AG's.  Being just "the Mom" I don't feel I can really give any input.

So nice to have found you gals !  :)

It used to be right around 3 months.  It will all depend when the class starts and how many days off there are while they are there.  My son's PIR was 10-08-10 and he was done with A school the beginning 02-2011, don't remember the exact day (bad mom).  He had the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holiday's so that stretched things out.

AGmampers- My husband was in A school from June to November. But he was on hold for about a month and a half, waiting for class space.

3 years ago my sailor flew out of O'Hare (leaving GL at 3:00 am) and into Gulfport.  We met him at the airport about 5:00 and stayed with him until his flight left at 11:00 am.  We were able to give him his cell phone and lap top to take with him.

Thank you Burgota!  I was wondering if they would fly directly into Gulfport or into a bigger airport and then bused...  Good to know.
