My son won't get to Biloxi until March. He has a bachelors degree already but I don't think he interested in getting a masters. I would think trying to get a masters degree at the same time he was in Biloxi would be very stressful. Is that what you are asking? But what I think doesn't matter. It's his choice right?

Fabulous information thank you! I'm very excited for my son and his upcoming opportunity! I hope he loves it!

From what I gathered it was based on time, but my husband was house crew leader (while he was on hold) and he phased up really quickly. About New Orleans he went twice this summer, he went with a group of sailors since it is with in the mile range. They did have to have liberty buddies, but families can sign their sailor out so they don't have to have a liberty buddy. They went to a lot of places on the weekends they went to Flora Bama, and even Pensacola. If you are into good food in Biloxi there is a restaurant called Aunt Jenny's, best catfish I've ever had!

Thank you Ryansgirl..... Crazy thing..... My sons name is Ryan. Lol. That is helpful information. One more question on the same subject if I may? Are the "phases" based on "time" or "grade". If you know.... Good to know about NOLA. I took him there last year but would like to again if possible. Great music and seafood.

They do have 3 phases they go through. My husband was on phase 1 for about a month. He couldn't leave the base for about the 1st 2 weeks after that he could leave with a liberty buddy, but had to be back at night to muster. Also New Orleans is not off limits when they are in phase 3. My husband went there twice this past summer while he was in school.

Hello all. I have a son who left Denver for boot camp on January ninth. He will be heading to MS beginning of March. I don't know the date yet, although I could take a pretty good educated guess. My husband and I will be heading to MS after he leaves boot camp with the RV to spend a month or so (I'm outta there when tornado season starts!). To provide him a respite location on the weekend and provide moral support! I've been reading that there will be restrictions to their ability to leave Keesler on the weekends in the beginning weeks of his schooling, and also that New Orleans is a no no (which is probably a good idea..!) do any of you have some more specifics about his ability to come and go from the base during his stay there?

I don't have much more to add.  My son went the following morning but that was at the time only a few divisions went out the next day.  He's had a good experience in MS but his time there will be ending when he grad C school in July!  Good luck!

we're going down to MS. in March to visit our son. Looking forward to warmer temps.  :0)  Our son left the next morning also after BC to MS. maybe that's common for AG's.  Good to see activity here.
