Oh my. Hopefully distance will help them both realize to wait until they are older! I know with my son the more I say the more it pushes him to her!

I got the worse news!!!!!!!!!!! Our 19yr old Sailor bought his g/f an engagement ring. This same 19yrs old, I'm still telling him to clean his room......He's ready for marriage??!!! He has too much going for him to throw it all away for his girl.

Welcome mom2boys! I My son is in A school now and we went to See him over the 4th of July weekend ! It is so good to be able to see him while he is in school. The limit they go off base is 250 miles. they do have to wait until they phase up . I think it was 3 weeks after he started school that he could leave the base and I think phase 2 is when they can stay off base for the whole weekend. I wish you and your sailor the best of luck. I think bootcamp was the toughest for me !

KYmom - Thanks you soooooo much for all your info!!!!!!!!!! I very much appreciate it :) WOW!!!!!!!!!! You had to get his stuff, with a 4 day notice :O. I heard they have to get it approved first, to live off of base? I would think even with extra money, she would have to get a job......more than a minumin wage job. These big cites aren't cheap to live in. How long has your son been an AG?

farkus - It's good to know, I'm not by myself in this department. How old is your son's g/f? Like your son's g/f, she's never been away from home, either. We did the same thing you did.......she's not cut out for the military. I hate talking bad about her. She is a nice kid, but not Military material. I really don't think she has any friends. All she does is, help her parents with their landscaping buisness and babysit her siblings. I can understand, why she is the way is she. I know she likes/loves our Sailor but he's her way out of her homelife

It's sooo nice to have Mothers/Wives to discuss Military Life. <3 I've learn a lot in here. Probably know more than both of my Sailors......hhehehe I thank you all for all your info!!!!!!!!

Hi ladies , thanks for all the wonderful information on SGOT . My son broke up with his GF right b4 he left 4 BC. then started it up again in BC with her. I do not think she is cut out to be a Military wife either . I have told both exactly that. When I saw him last weekend he said they were still communicating . This girl has never been away from her family. So I am hoping it is over soon !

I have a question. Our Sailor is on the Strike Group Oceanography Team. From my understanding, it's just a fancy way of saying "Sea Duty". Is this true
