Hey LA-BriansMom - my son got to P-cola on Saturday night and was first told that his class would begin on May 21st.  Last night, he told me that he had to "class up" which he explained means that he has to wait until there is a full class before they begin.  So.....I am with you and wonder how long that could be....my son is E3 and he said he is AM, which I assume means Airman???

He is very content with life having just PIR'd last Friday and getting to breathe a little this week.  But I know he will get antsy before too long if full on school doesn't begin.  He will adapt, but just hope that they get started soon!

My son PIR was 4-13-12 he went directly to Pensacola and has not yet started "A" School. Can anyone tell me what takes so long to begin? He is an E2 and says he is an AIRMAN and known as ATI. What does this mean? How long before his school will begin?

Thanks marine_navy mom. Yes, we are going to be leaving Tuesday morning to drive to Great Lakes. Wouldn't miss it! We are so proud of her and are looking forward to PIR.  I am going to leave this group for now, but will definitely rejoin once she makes E-3. Happy Mother's Day to you.

My daughter made it through battlestations yesterday morning and is now a Sailor! YEA!!!! I asked what her rate is/will be. She said she is an E-1 still and so she will be an Airman Recruit? When will she be eligible for E-2 (Airman Apprentice)? I will mostly be posting on the undesignated site but appreciate any info you can give me on this. I will also post this question on the undesignated discussion board. Thanks.

marine_navymom, thanks for the info. Yes, I have joined the undesignated group. I guess I will have to wait and find out at her PIR exactly what her rate is. I know she went in as an E-1 with intentions of coming out as an E-2. She did a lot of work with her recruiters while in DEP. I'll post an update on her status once I find out. Thanks again.

I have a question that I hope you can answer. My daughter is currently in BC. Her PIR is 5/18/12. She went in as an undesignated Airman for the Airman Apprenticeship program. When she graduates from bootcamp, will she then be considered an apprentice (E-2)? I am not clear on how this works. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
