Hello Airman family, I've been on Navy moms for a while and just found this group. My son is a E-3 (AO). He is on the USS Nassau, that is decom. March 31. He is changing command to a Helo-squadron HSC-26 in Norfork, and will be attending C- school in norfork. Does any body know anything about the Helo (AO) C-school. Thanks

Dunesmom - you are so funny! We've all had and sometimes till do have that tilt, lol! With Lynch in a holding pattern until April there's nto too much more for me to find out....except for research on Tinker and AWV. I'm just not finding much about AWV other than the obvious that's in Navy publications, etc.

Just a joke about the lady.....the guys said that orders are assigned by "some lady in TN". They were talking about dream sheets being tossed and not used anymore. All I know is that in the end, as a mom I'm clueless, lol.

So i guess we just need to hold on to our hats and see what happens along the way hu?  I don't mean to not get it but... what lady in TN?  i don't get it:)

Not by choice.....He had been told he would be on the P-3 and more than likely in Whidbey or JAX. From his A school class he was the first to get orders. And, his roomie who had already graduated A and is the same rate as Lynch had not gotten orders yet. He was disappointed at until he spoke to some people about it and now he feels that it is actually a better opportunity. One PO told him that he should feel good about it. So, now he is very happy. From what I have read about STRATCOM, E-6B, VQ-3 and 4 and such....it sounds interesting like having to be prepared to fly with 15 mins. notice. But, I'm getting the impression that there will be times when he can't say where he will be. I've exchanged emails with a couple guys who have been there or have retired from there.

But...I completely understand that some reasons people are sent here or there are purely due to numbers, retirement, promotions, etc....You end up going where that lady in TN thinks the Navy needs you, lol.

shall i repeat...Wow!  what a ship!  Oh yes Cindy very i see him, very handsom indeed:)

So Suzi, Lynch went though  his Aschool and then was changed what he was working on?

Wow, Cindy....that has to be an impressive sight! My ex-husband's ship was tiny compared to this one. It really is breath-taking.

Oh yes...things can change.....when Lynch was at the same point Dune is he also thought he was going to be on the Orion and then Poseidon. He had been told that more than once. His orders were a complete surprise. But, it can change from day to day depending on the needs, people retiring, cross-rate training, CREO, replacing equipment, etc....and that nameless lady in TN, lol...

So far everything has been pretty smooth for Lynch (knock on wood) and he is pleased with the change, so mom can breathe easier now. :)

20 years later my ex is still in contact with old Navy buddies.

ya know ilovelucy, i didn't even notice the  name thing... ;)  My husband was stationed at Tinker years ago in the Airforce, but i get the finding a lake thing.  I'm from Michigan where we are surounded by the lakes and spotted throughout the state too.  Glad my sailor boy gets to be on the water so far in his venture.  So what i have found out is that Dune will start out with, most likely, the Orions and then move onto the new Posidons.  Unless things change.  And i'm seeing this more and more each time i talk to him that things can change with in the day.  Oh i bet that is hard for his wife to be left behind.  Hope she has a good support system around her for sure.  Glad your sailor has buds he knows to go with him and i'm sure he will make lots more.  that's one thing i have learned on this sight that our kids make friends for all over hmm just like us moms hu?
