Hi Azmom, In my sons class there are 5 women and I think 9 men. So the wont be alone.
My daughter will be going to Pensacola for Air Traffic Controller and I was just wondering how many women are in this rating compared to men?
BearsMom, we have barracks here on base for single sailors. No need to worry about that. They will work with him once he gets here to set him up with a room. Once he gets here, he'll check in to the command and then he'll meet with our division chain of command and get started with the check-in process. He will be taken around by one of us and do the various things needed. He'll be assigned to either North Field or South and then a crew.
Thanks for the info everybody. Chef2NavyAC, he won't be arriving until the end of May/early June, thanks! Now that he will be out of school how does housing working there? Are there barracks? Or is he gonna be on his own for housing? What happens when he gets there?
BearsMom, I am an AC at Whiting Field and have been here for over 2 years. Its a great facility to be stationed at and he will get a great opportunity to get his CTO (sometimes 2) and get a great base line AC education. He will not be deployed since he is on shore duty. I have heard (from recent check ins) that most are receiving 4 year orders now to NASWF. THis is my last command so I will be extending here for my last 2 years. I'll keep an eye out for him. We have a great family here and he'll be welcomed warmly. Best of luck! Any other questions you may have, feel free to ask!
Thanks for the info AC moms. He is very excited to get out of school and get to work!
Hi to all my fellow AC Moms. My AC was first posted to an air craft carrier during which time they were deployed for several months. He is now in the process of transferring to his next posting which is land based. So to answer the question, yes, AC's do get deployed depending on their postings.
Congradulations BearsMom aka Amber!! Whiting Field sounds good to me. My son is still waiting to start class. I am sure someone who knows will answer your question soon. Good Luck!
Hi All... question for you. My AC sailor will be graduating A school in May and he just got his orders, he will be going to Whiting field. Do AC's ever get deployed or will he be sitting in FL for the next five years?
