@Mareluc My daughter been on THU since 5/25 for the same thing Asthma they told her anywhere from 2-5months till her Waiver is clear and if it does get clear our kids like you said are in a Limbo just waiting, And yes doing odd job also but she is doing well just whats to get on with her career hates having to wait all we have to do is Pray for our kids to get on with there Career She is also AC GRRR I just wish the NAVY will let them go
My son graduated boot camp on 6/29. He was put in the Temporary Holding Unit (THU) in GL and will not be able to start A school tomorrow. Does anyone know why he was put there. At first they said since the doctor didn't turn in his results from his asthma test (mandatory test for AC) they said he had to wait. Last Monday they told him that they didn't think he needed the test so he is right now sitting in limbo. He said there is another Sailor in the THU for AC that has been there for seven months already! Any one have this happen to their Sailor? My son gets no answers and is just sitting doing watch and odd jobs.......I am trying to figure out how long he will have to wait now to start AC school. He originally said that if he didn't get to Pensacola by this weekend he will have to wait 4 months at least for another class to start.....Is this correct? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!
thank you.
That is awesome!!! I know you must be very proud of him and all he has accomplished. I'm really beginning to like the decision my son made about joining the Navy. :)
I'm SO glad to hear about the study groups.
Thank you for all the insight to the Air Traffic Control school. ~Melissa
My son too wasn't planning on Air Traffic Controller as a career. He wanted to do something dangerous. lol Thank goodness his recruiter advised him to do ATC or Nuclear because of his ASVAB scores. His dad and I are so glad he picked something that would lead into a real career and one that has potential to make a great income! :) I hope my son gets stationed somewhere close enough to visit him too.
It sounds like your son is doing well in his field and moving up! I'm a little nervous about A school. I know my son did great on his ASVAB test, has already been promoted to E3 while in basic... But NOW, it's time for real book work, studying and passing the classes. :/
That all sounds great! I'm sure after basic, going to A school in Pensacola will be a nice change of pace for the sailors. :)
It sounds like we might be able to visit him after he has been there for a month or so. We're hoping to spend two weekends with him and during the week visit some other family in the area. Right now, I'm just so excited about getting to see him at PIR I can hardly stand the wait. Thank you for the information about A school. How does you son like being an Air Traffic Controller? Where is he stationed?
Jakes_mom92, my son is also going to Air Traffic Control school in Pensacola. It's supposed to be a 4 month program.
my son just started boot camp 6/12/2012. He will be going to Pensacola for his "A" school for Air Traffic Control. Can anyone tell me approximately how long the schooling is for?
