Congratulations, calbransmommy! That is wonderful!
Anyone have any info on getting a Brown Bagger chit for AC "A" School? Or what other options my husband and I would have for me to move over there? I know I have to pay for it out of pocket and have to wait til he classes up for him to be able to stay over. Are there any "family barracks" on base? Thanks everyone!
Well, my fingers are crossed for you!
Way to go Calbransmommy - I need he and the other would!! I don't know if our Sailors know how stressful it is for us too!! LOL Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)
Congrats! Do you know if they usually get what they pick?
Calbransmommy - I have your son in my thoughts and prayers - I have actually have all the service men and women in them too - this week was a tragedy for the Navy. Your son will do well today I am sure!! They really do what they can to help them pass their test!! Keep your spirits up !!!
I certainly will, calbransmommy. This Navy ride sure has a lot of ups and downs...
Well, sounds like you have a good plan. And sometimes I forget how flexible someone can be without two little kids running around :) Just stay open minded about life in general now. Sometimes no matter how hard someone studies or how smart they are it still doesn't work out. My husband saw ALOT of people get set back or dropped from the program...and sometimes it didn't make sense on who they let through and who they didn't, but they had their reasons. He will have to do notecards...lots of them..and lots of just writing stuff over and over and over! My husband said he thought he remembered having to read a paragraph in the check in process where they just want to hear your voice and see how well you can be understood (listening for accents, lisps, stuttering and whatnot). So I would assume that if he has trouble with that he would probably not even start the ac classes, but that's just me saying that. Good luck with everything though! AC really is a great rate to have, there are alot of other great rates though, and alot of great jobs that train down in Pensacola and over at Correy too! Keep us updated on how it goes for you guys!
Thanks for the info esther. Reason I'm moving is not just to be close to him but also to help him with studying. I've got 2 bachelors in aviation and hope to be a additional resource for him plus continue helping him with his English. Basically, anything and everything that I can do to make sure he succeeds and has an easier transition, I will do it! And he's very determined and studies hard for everything so I really do hope he does well. Any suggestions/tips your husband may have for him? :-)
Just my personal opinion on this. My husband went through AC school this past summer and graduated beginning of Nov. It is a hard school. More than once my husband thought he was going to not pass and get dropped. We had talked about moving down there with our two girls. It would have been very difficult for him to focus on his studies if we would have been down there. Also, if he would have failed or gotten dropped he would have been given a different rate and then would have to go to who knows where to train. My opinion is to not move down there. You really don't know what the outcome of this school is going to be. I did go down to visit a couple times and I stayed at the Navy Gateway Inn and suites on base, super close and cheap. Good luck with everything!
