I stayed at the Navy Lodge when I went last weekend. It was nice. Your son will need to make the reservation. Now, I did it online creating a log in under his name; the lady asked who made the reservation; I was honest, she was nice but did say he could get in trouble for that. He has to be there with you when you check in and you can use ur credit card. There is another motel on base called the Gateway Inn. Never stayed there though. My son got there on 10/15 and classed up yesterday (11/1).

My son is currently in the process of heading to Pensacola to start class shortly.  His orders say November 2nd but I am wondering if that is right since wmiranda says her son just started last week.  Anyone else on this group have a son/daughter/spouse/significant other starting soon?

Hi my son got to Pensacola on Oct. 8th and just started classes last week.  He says the classes are hard but he likes it a lot.  They seem to have activities available for the kids there.  They all went to the Fair and to Tallahassee to go to a college football game.  I plan on driving to visit my son in the next couple weeks.  Has anybody been down there yet?  Any recommendations on where to stay that's close to the base?   Any information would be great.

Well according to my son who arrived there on 9/2 - he will like it.  It has been sunny and warm (well except for the past couple of days, but it is still warmer than where his hometown is!!)  He in in A School for AC - he is in Block 1, Block 2 which is hands on starts 11/7.  He has been to the museum, beach, NEX, movies, bowling, mall!!  He and some other guys went off base for the 1st time last weekend - 6 of them - I made him text me so I knew he was ok and that they all arrived on base safely on sunday!!  :) LOL  Tell him to be prepared he might not start school right away my son had to wait 2 weeks (they have to get so many to start school) - they started with 14 and now have 9 in his class - so it is hard but as long as he participates in the study musters and studies on his own, he will do fine.  Let me know if you want more information - just friend me.  Good Luck and graduation is great! so enjoy it!! :)  Bring kleenex you will need them! LOL

Hi all.  My son will be headed to Pensacola in the next week or so for AC school.  This is a bit unexpected because he entered the Navy under a SEAL contract but ultimately decided that it wasn't for him.  What can he expect in Pensacola?

Question for all the AC moms......My daughter finished her classes, got her orders and is now on medical hold for a full flight physical.  Has anyone else had experience with this?

So does anyone else read these comments and tears come to your eyes!!  I do - it really helps having other moms to talk to that are experiencing what I am.  Thank God for cell phones and PCs.  I don't know how people did it before.  I just wish I could jump on a plane and go be with him but I know he is doing great and he sounds so good.  It is nice to hear how you all are doing too.

Calbransmommy - glad to hear he completed the tests.  Once he gets his physical he will be good to go and start his classes which sounds like he is ready to go on Monday.  My son had a little hiccup so he didn't classup for 2 weeks.  He completed his first test yesterday and passed and now he has another test Thursday and if he passes he gets to go off base for the weekend - which he and some of the other guys are looking forward to - he didn't talk very long last night as he said he had to study!!  (he was never this eager to study back in high school!!)  LOL - Times have changed.
