Btw, with all the holidays shopping, christmas parties, wrapping, baking, etc.... I realize we'll be on here a lot less at least until after the New Year.  I just wanted to say a heartfelt, "Thank you" to all you wonderful ladies.  I don't know what I would have done without all of you girls!  Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year to you all.

Love,

Sylvia

Hi guys, I'm temporarily posting this picture to the left on the screen, so my other PIR group sisters could get a quick glimpse of the AC lounge.  I figure it's harmless and more of a teaching tool?  I hope I'm not breaking any rules by putting it there temporarily? Again, it's only temporary....will switch pics very soon.  Thanks!

Diane....I'll do a "snow dance" for you so the snow will stick around so your boy can have a White Christmas.

Btw, what are those? (White Christmases,that is?)

Diane....sounds like your boy will definitely get E5 next time around. Especially with doing so well the 'first round' and with extra points to boost him through. Hey, if he has the commander telling him that he did really well....he's a shoe in for E5!

Slimsam....I REALLY, REALLY take comfort in what you, and others on this AC moms site, have said about how close a percentage race these AC boys are usually in.
I thank you for that. :)

Now.....let's get down to business. The burning question is....."How was the daughter-in-law's Turkey dinner?" lol

I'm sure it was still heaven because your boy was home. ;-}

Hi all,

Still no word on chit approval from Navy yet. Mike said that he "crashed two helicopters" during simulator class. He seemed kind of down. Out of the original 14 students, 2 have dropped (one of them a marine; big surprise there) but 3 have rejoined the group from previous AC classes?
He seemed kind of bummed that coming out of the gate he was 2nd place and now he is 2nd place from the bottom. Several weeks ago, he had failed an "open book" type test, (took too long?) and only answered 2 or 3 questions out of the 5. He had to stand in front of an academic type review board and they let him re-take the test. He then passed and got a 100%. But I think this probably marred him and put him where he's at now. He has an average of 83%. Only one guy has 90% and everyone else is at 84%. Geez, talk about a "tight" margin!

Sailors are talking about Spain, Italy, Hawaii....west coast? He'd love west coast being a native San Diegan, but he absolutely does not want to be in some "Asian" type country. I think it's mostly the language/culture/girls that he doesn't want that. weird, i know. Got to admit, I'd rather he be stationed in europe too if he's planning on dating girls!

Yay, Diane!!!! Happy for your boy! My boy's in his 3rd or 4th week of AC school now. He was 2nd , 3rd now I think he's 5th place? There's 14 total in his class. Not too happy that he's slipping in his placement in class. But this is all him now. I can't hover over him and tell him to study. (As if that would help! Usually that advice fell on deaf ears during his high school years) Now he is hopefully getting it. He started out strong, but is now average. He is talking about wanting to get Italy now? Geez, didn't realize we had a military base in Italy! lol
I just want my boy in San Diego, for heaven's sake. Is that too much to ask? lol

Sad news.....
Just read on the P'cola site about another sailor committing suicide. (It's on page 4 or 5 I think?) Back in late August, when our son had just arrived there was another suicide that had just happened back then too. Both of them were 'hangings' of some sort. Evidently this boy had only 1 week of A school left. From what I read, many of the friends he'd made at P'cola were in shock and disbelief. Just so sad.
