slimsam- every time I see that pix of the puppy with the white striped face, I want to run out and buy one. Are Bully Bassets expensive and are they hard to find?
On another note, our son texted that they had their first test this past week and he place #2 out of 14 students. Told him we were proud and to keep it up and keep his "military bearing" and that every test counts.
He said he'll be done with A school on Feb. 14th. (Happy Valentine's Day to me!)
He's already talking about coming home for Christmas for a week during school/holiday shutdown. Hopefully he won't have duty around that time. Told him that some folks on N4M were saying that he should skip Xmas and not split up his 2 week vacation. In other words, to save it and have both weeks off together immediately right after A school. However....what if he has his deployment right away? Won't he miss out on his 2 week vacation then?
(don't really relish the thought of him (or us!) spending extreme amount of money on plane ticket during Christmas time) sigh....

Hi all,
Our son seems to be calling and texting us less & less as the weeks go by. His days of waiting have been filled with hanging out with the guys in the AC lounge, watching movies with the gang, and spending waaaaaay too much money at the NEX. He seems happy and healthy and that's all a parent can really ask for, right? He classes up tomorrow. So hopefully the money spending will at least cease for a little while? (Really?....$200 dollar Raybans!!??!! Are you kidding me?!! Prior to that he'd already bought a pair of "Aviator" glasses! lol {Breathe, Sylvia! Breathe!!....He's officially still a teenager)

I think I saw that on "Family Jewels" (Gene Simmon's reality show with him and family?) Where he sings to the military all the different branches hymn songs? (sorry, i don't have Facebook, so I can only guess which video it is.) If that's the one.....it's awesome! Love him for being so supportive to our military troops!

small world. I'm an RN too. Unemployed at the moment. Worked as a NICU nurse. Saw the pics of your son. He's married and has a baby too? Beautiful family!

Santee is about 10 minutes SouthEast of Scripps Ranch. Yep....we had a heat wave last week, now this week it has been cold rain, cloudy and just plain cold. (Well, for us cold is anything in the 50's & 60's. lol I had to dip myself in the jacuzzi outside to warm up then dried off and threw on socks and flannel type pj pants to warm up! I want to get out the winter blankets but hubby says no still. Don't want to get into it with him as I'm hormonal right now! So for now.....long dips in our jacuzzi (prior to bed) are in order! lol lol

We live in Santee. Weather is usually PERFECT here 99.9% of time. But this past week the weather has been wacky & weird! The mid-west can have it back! lol

Good to know about the cost of moving from point A to B as far as costs of flights. We are from San Diego, and are hoping to see our son prior to his next duty station. That being said, as with all sailors, he is going through money like water! He's only 19 and like a kid in a candy store, so to speak! lol Will tell him to start saving for this "rainy day" that faces him in the future. lol Actually I'll copy & paste what other moms are saying as far as good advice.........maybe he'll listen to you! lol (Sons!.......sigh....
You guys are terrific!

Thanks Diane & Slimsam. I appreciate all your help. Why do they drop like flies from this program? Is there a lot of math or what in particular do your boys say about why that is? I've known about this prior to but have never really asked an AC mom. There aren't many of those around as you know! lol lol

Oh! One more question. Regarding Christmas break. Need some advice from you seasoned AC moms. I understand that Pensacola has no classes between Dec.22-Jan.3?, hence, no classes on campus. So I guess that most sailors (unless they have to stay and do "Watch") go home for Christmas for about a week, right? My question is: After A school for AC's how much 'vacation-time' do they give our boys before their next assignment? And would you all recommend splitting that time up for Christmas (1 week) then another week in February? Or just skip Xmas, and make it all 2 weeks in Feb? Better question: What did your boys do or preferred to have done with their vacation time? lol
